NVIDIA ‘Ampere’ 8nm Graphics Cards

T

10000 divided by 8500 = 1.176 (+17.6%) the gap between the 3080 and the 3090.

So if the 3080ti comes out and then its not much of a gap to squeeze into.

Unless its closer to 3090 in price, then it cant be 10% faster than a 3080 otherwise nobody will buy the 3090 which would only be 7% faster than the 3080ti.

If its only 5% faster than the 3080 then there is a 12% gap to the 3090 but people would only buy the 3080ti at 5% faster if it came with more memory as well otherwise whats the point.

So it doesnt leave much of a gap unless they change the pricing when the super or ti comes out.

But I will be happy with with a 34% performance increase of the 3080 over the 2080ti so long as the memory thing doesnt become an issue.

Ah, from the 3080 to the 3090 yes you're right, my bad :)

There is no certainty until the event, Nvidia can change quite a few things I wouldn't expect much from AMD until end of next week tbh

Current thinking is that AMD will offer more Vram in direct competition with the 3080

Looking forward to next week to get some actual facts. At least then the AMD fanboys can make factual attacks rather than pathetic sniping.

Well.... Next week is a Nvidia event. So we wont get facts. We will get marketing.
We will get facts when the review come out.

It's the 3rd-gen of RTX that I'm expecting to impress (and by that time we'll see some actual adoption of RT etc), although this 2nd shouldn't be too awful.

I'd personally be happy with my 5700XT til then, if I wasn't such a hardware whore :D :p

You mean we wont have to play 23 year old games like Quake 2? Oh hurrah.

We can instead play 21 year old games like Quake3!

This is the first launch in some time that im not really seeing hype at all. Most people seem very cautious about it.

Nvidia are hyping it though.

No hype like 21 days of Twitter buildup,JHH taking cards out of the oven,a whole video talking about the "thermal design" of their cooler.

How much noise was made about Maxwell or Turing. Not as much noise as there is being made about Ampere.

So this is either a very good sign or a very bad sign, going by history! :P

I love this marketing push by Nvidia, still the #1 reason they have trounced ATI/AMD so badly. It's just free money sitting there and they're the only ones with balls to pick it up.

Looking forward to those timespy leaks with a 3070 being 2080ti performance in theory. Probably my next card will be a 3070. Can’t be fluffed paying flagship prices

I was thinking this too.

It seems rather weird,as they know they are launching before AMD,so why should you need to make so much pre-reveal hype, when it's not been needed before?? Maxwell,Pascal and Turing don't seem to have had as much pre-reveal hype.

Remember this pre-hype,for the "product reveal" hype. If its a product reveal, that means the actual launch is later on,making this hype for the hype for the actual launch. Did they happen to have a chat with Raja?? :D

At least this is 100% confirmation of the new power connector. Can't remember when nvidia has done so much marketing in advance of a launch. Hurry up, can't wait much longer :D

Because of poor Turing sales. They dont want a repeat.
