Nvidia CEO confirms 3080 3090 shortages until 2021

Not many wise people want a 2080ti for 4K gaming, as it lacks the physical HDMI 2.1 port to enable above 60fps at 4k.

This is one (of many) reasons the 3000 series are so popular. Not many PC gamers are happy gaming at a lower resolution than consoles, and as the new consoles are 4k60 devices, there's a rush to get 4K ready on PC.

The main reason IMO is that Covid lockdowns mean people are willing to spend more on high end gaming equipment, as they're using said equipment much more than normal.

All that money I'm saving from not buying coffee or Nando's has to go somewhere...

Come on Nvidia/AMD *waves credit card*

Haha indeed!

I suspect for the 4000 series launch, Nvidia will have a elegant queue pre-order system for their founders edition. I've got a 3090 Strix OC on order, though I'd have ordered the FE if I had the option to. I don't get the opportunity with work to F5 enough to snipe one, so pre-order queue is the only option for me.

Surely Nvidia would make a killing, by selling millions more FE cards if they had a queue like system? They can control GPU allocation and ensure they get the most chips as well.

I thought most people use DP on PC's, personally I have never used hdmi, although.. I do intend on trying it (with a DP adapter) when my new card arrives, because 30 series is lacking the USB-C port that I currently make use of, with a DP adapter, to have 4 screens connected without the hdmi limitations.

Jensen is full of it.

This kind of global shortage of stock being experienced at launch is just very poor forward planning.
And it gives a lot of credence to those who say this was the plan all a long to create artificial scarcity to elevate prices well above MSRP.

Well Jensen better pray AMD fall short of the mark on their RDNA2 launch.
Or a lot of people still waiting may decide it's time to go and try the red team.

If I was him I would want to be getting these cards into people's hands before AMD's hard launch and before Cyberpunk 2077 releases.

For UK, it's more getting them before Brexit , if trade deals etc not in place , all stock is held in EU distribution , no direct from China to UK which is a pain . Might change

Ah yeah, haven't touched any of those except Witcher 3 which runs higher than 65fps with a texture mod and reshade. Except in cities, I'd be interested in how the 30 series handles Novigrad.
On that note is it time for another Witcher playthrough. Damn why'd you have to include that haha :o
3090 4K 120fps from memory

also cyberpunk 1070 20fps :P

I would not be surprised to see them make more money from just selling the chips. I would would not be shocked to see the Bill of materials for the FE models, the 3090 in particular to be amongst the highest on the market yet its being sold at RRP. There I think now to attract people to the brand, have a halo like product, have a product at RRP price they can control to use for marketing but let AIB's deal with the bulk of the work, not to mention letting AIBs deal with bulk of the associated aftercare.
