**Nvidia G-Sync owners thread**

High framerate is always going to be better than lower, he did say Metro at 60hz with gsync felt like 100hz though so it clearly still works well at the lower end.

Not talking about the refresh rate of the monitor. It felt like 100hz because he was getting high frame rates. He says that himself, that he was able to get decent frame rates in Metro with his 780Ti sli setup.

So how low are you talking? 30-40fps constant isn't going to feel like 60fps no matter what kind of sync you're using. The way I understood it is gsync helps when games have large fluctuations in framerate so you don't notice the drop as much, it won't make a constantly low framerate appear smooth. If it did that nobody would buy a high end GPU ever again.

It should appear smooth at low fps simply because it wont tearing right?
I think from initial reports and these later reviews smoothness is exactly what it does

I am not talking any amount of FPS, I am just going by the review and saying my thoughts on it.

But I thought that was the whole point of Gsync, that it would smooth things out at any frame rate as long as you were not under the working refresh rates of Gsync on that particular monitor.

For instance he says that it is still laggy on a 60hz monitor even when running high frame rates. How laggy would it feel if you were running a demanding game with low frame rates?

And your last point, the kind of people who high end GPU's will still buy high end GPU's.

I am only asking the questions based on this review.

Probably because the monitor isn't meant to be ran at 60hz. By laggy I think he means you can notice input lag over running at 120/144hz which is obvious. Not quite sure why they did that test as surely everyone will have the monitor set to 144hz or 120 when using ULMB.

Why wouldn't it be meant to run at 60Hz? Every monitor 144hz or 120hz that I know of runs perfectly fine at 60hz.

They did that test because there are other monitors coming that have Gsync and are only 60Hz.

My point is if it feels laggy on a 60hz monitor even with really high frame rates, how bad is it going to feel when your frame rate is under 60fps?

Well It will be nice to see a proper test. Looking forward to it. I hope PCM2 gets a gsync monitor too!!

I should be getting the ROG SWIFT very soon (after i52) and also an AOC g2460Pg. After that I'll be after BenQ/Philips offerings when available. I'd like to take a look at the Acer 4K G-SYNC but don't currently have any Acer contacts. :)

I have taken a couple of days off work to give it a proper test but will only be user level reviewing only though (PCM2 and Badass will give proper reviews I expect). I am like a kid at Chrimbo at the mo and hate waiting for things :(

Buy any 144hz monitor play a game at 100+fps at 144hz then switch to 60hz and play again, you'll notice the difference straight away. It's input lag and considering he was playing a shooter it will be easily noticeable. That's probably why he noticed it so much actually due to the nature of the way he tested it.

There's a big difference between it running fine and running optimal. In all the time I've had my 144hz BenQ I've never once ran it at 60hz.

60hz GSYNC will feel great to anyone who's never owned a 120/144hz panel if they have they will probably notice an input lag increase in shooters.

I can tell you GSync doesn't help large variance, for example if your FPS suddenly tanks hard (from say 80 to 20 in a second) then you will certainly see it - nothing would prevent that. What it does is smooth out normal variance, so if your FPS is changing a lot (but not spiking) then you can't really tell that it is.

Even at high frames the Swift is noticeably smoother than my iiyama 120hz, mostly due to the reduction in tearing. If you're used to VSYNC then there is also a big reduction in input lag. It's certainly true that GSYNC will help when you are getting drops in firefights but its not like that is the only benefit.

Yeah absolutely, although my old Samsung 700d at 120Hz feels exactly like the swift at 120/144Hz, but the sammy was a damn good monitor. The upside of course is the swift remains smooth at lower framerates :)

registering as the proud owner of the ASUS ROG SWIFT...

Incredible monitor, have had it for a day and can't get over how beautiful and crisp images are and what a difference it's made to game play.

This piece of engineering marvel was the last piece of the puzzle for my dream PC build and I've been waiting 6 months for it...was worth the wait, the hassle and the price!!

Don't hesitate if your thinking about getting one yourself.
