**Nvidia G-Sync owners thread**

So do games just work with gsync or do they need to have anything done like a ingame option
like you must have vsync on which turns on gsync or somit or is it totally passive and works with everything?

Turn G-sync on in Control panel

Turn G-sync on in Global settings

V-sync off in game

No special reason, the upcoming 4k GSYNC monitor is 60hz,
whether it can use ULMB mode still isn't confirmed but I doubt it at only 60hz.

ULMB - 85hz, 100hz or 120hz as far as I understand it.

They say it's night and day differences going between 60hz monitor and a Gsync one, I should hope so because it's a night and day difference going between 60hz and 120hz.

I hope reviewers compare Gsync monitors with 144Hz/120hz monitors as well.

That's what I am hoping for. I am quite perceptible to stutter and tearing and although it isn't a game killer, I would like it gone and not substituted with input lag either.

60Hz to 120Hz was 'wow' for me and more of that and my wallet will be happy.

I don't notice any difference between 120 and 144. I actually have an internal cap at 135fps for GSYNC to prevent stutter. Some good info over at blurbusters.

You still going 4K Greg or are you leaning towards the SWIFT? I can honestly say that I have not been a bigger fan of a piece of kit since I got my iPhone 3G - this monitor is in a league of its own.

Still 4k G-Sync all the way for me. I loved the Sammy 4K and the only thing that could better that for me would be G-Sync. G-Sync + 4K + 120Hz would be heaven mind :)

Just a thought, but could G-sync be really good for console gaming seen as consoles tend to have lower frame rates? Wouldn't it make gaming on them loads more smoother?
I know the hardware in them is AMD tech but just humor me. Could G-sync be good for console gaming?

Nvidia did say the long term goal was the mobile space, no reason you couldn't pencil console gaming into that, though 99% of console gamers use a tv over hdmi, no matter if it's G or free it has to be over displayport, something neither console has.

Gsync doesn't have to be over display port. Nvidia said so in an interview with pcmagazinepro. They said theres no reason it can't be done over HDMI or DVI etc, as thats the benefit of using their own technology over a VESA standard.

Edit: important point though I should mention is that the technology still relies heavily on the screen its being shown on. TV's would be utterly ***** for this sadly, but a console - monitor combo shouldn't have an issue.

That directly contradicts what Nvidia said initially - that G-SYNC requires the packet data transfer capabilities of DP to work. To me that makes sense as the GPU needs to communicate with the monitor in a very streamlined way which I don't believe connections other than DP can achieve.

Thats what Nvidia has said though and they obviously wasn't talking about the current gsync module either.
