**Nvidia G-Sync owners thread**

I must be getting old (or skint), as I am quite happy with my Swift. I wouldn't mind seeing that screen up close though and seeing if it would be worth swapping out but you are a bit too far from me Neil :(

I've tried the new IPS Swift at a work mates place and it was ok but not worth swapping the Swift out for unless viewing angles are a life or death thing for you, In general I find people grossly over exaggerate IPS and this is coming from someone with a 4K IPS Dell next to my Swift.

My Swift has been the dug's nuts since I bought it at the start of the year. I think I'd need to be moving to 4K@120Hz before I wanted to get rid... And I don't even think Pascal will offer that kind of grunt.

What was your problem and what rectified it?
At first i couldnt select any refresh rate higher than 24Hz, tried on two systems. Eventually it reached the point where no image would display on screen. Tried a new DP cable but still no joy. Borrowed a new power brick, set the swift up in dual monitors with an old viewsonic 20" lcd. Full range of refresh rates became available on the swift. Selected 144Hz but got a black screen.

Disconnected the viewsonic, rebooted with just the swift hooked up. Got into windows but could only select 85Hz. So took out the supplied DP cable and used the one i bought, immediately the full range of refresh rates became available in advanced monitor settings.

Ah, a bit of a mare. Did you not get it new if so why didn't you send it back if bit's were faulty.

Ha! I bet. Last I read you were still running an old 60Hz monitor :o

The difference will be night and day ;)
Yep, i took the 8 year old benq fp241w and hooked it up to my second system. Once i started having issues with the swift i had to use the old viewsonic that the benq replaced, it's older again. Both 60Hz screens, viewsonic screen is dying but the one on the benq is in pristine condition.

At least you got your monies worth from the old battle axe :p

I remember when I jumped from 60Hz to 120/144 I couldn't believe the difference in fluidity. Once you make the transition, you wonder why you didn't do it a lot earlier.

Ok right just to clear this up, Do I have V-Sync on or off ?

So far I have G-Sync on, Swift is set to 120Hz instead of 144Hz so my GPU isn't always at boost clocks on the desktop, Got RTSS limiting the FPS to 119.

So do I leave V-Sync on in the Nvidia control panel or off ?

Set 120Hz for desktop
Set G-Sync in the NCP
Set V-Sync in the NCP
Don't set V-Sync in games

That's it. Don't worry about setting frame limiters or anything else as it caps to 143.5 and that keeps you within G-Sync parameters

Awesome thank you, Why not use ingame v-sync though ? Does it raise latency or something ?
