How you work that out?
The RRP for the 8800GT is £150 & the GTS RRP is only $70 more which isnt £50 :)

Yea but they always raise the prices, the RRP maybe 150 for a GT, but they are selling at higher than the RRP by quite abit, then there is the fact that converting US$ to GBP does not reflect the UK prices on these cards. In the us on the bay you can buy HD3870 512MB's for £125 brand new, you certainly cant on the bay here.

I'm worried I'll be sucked into the hype anyway and proberbly flog my GT for a GTS but I need to know the prices, its a 10p listing day today so I thinking what the hell 10p aint a lot I'll stick my GT up for £200 and see if someone buys it :p.

It's higher because they are in short supply. If there was too many of them you'd probably see it going a little bit in the other direction. Look at the Wii for example. I very very much doubt Nvidia will give a high RRP on the 8800GTS G92 because they aren't delivering enough GT's and they know the price is going up on them.

Also the etailers can raise the prices higher too because they know people will still buy them, all I'm saying is I wont be surprised if its going to be higher than £200 in the UK.

Yeah, but the point being the retailers will realise the demand vs supply and hitch the prices up.

Does this really matter all that much when they all offer high end perfromance at mid range prices?

Surely your key buying decision should be based on the resolution you game at and price.

Ive never seen such a strong line up from one manufacturer at such good prices.

personally I like to see a difference in performance between the cards at different price points, it makes it a lot less confusing and also offers the consumer a wider range of options cost wise, the whole model line-up atm is in a mess, we have a gt that performs like a gtx and now we have a gts version 2 (even though they don't choose to call it version 2) that seems to be performing like a gtx, I find that very strange, Nvidia know what we want and thats the 9800's but there dragging their heels, these new revisions are stupid, they may as well of just dropped the price of the gtx's and be done until they was ready to release the 9800's.

Well from what ive read, there is big quantities of the GT due and some places are now getting them in and the premium is going :)

If you look around the web for reviews, they're saying the basic GTS will be $70 more & $100 more for the OC versions so personally cant see them being over the £200 as people will just buy a GT ;)

I do see your and willhub's point but I don't think this is the case. If you look at the E6700 CPU and the E6750 for example. The E6700 costs a lot more but they are worse performing than then E6750. They didn't raise the bar on the E6750 because the E6700 was a higher price, they based their price on the RRP instead and the supply.

basically it seems to be around 10% faster than the GT. just wish it was 10% more expensive!!! i bet ocuk sell it for about £240 even tho it should be £40 ish more than the gt's proper price of £135, so £175, but that will never happen.

we should all club together and order a bulk of cards from america:) they tried an overclock of 720/2100 which is pretty decent but i'd want more of an overclock than that as the gt can do similar, also i'd wanna see a re-review with an overclock and see what fps we get in each game then.

Crysis benchies are up and the new GTS beats the GT by a few FPS but the GTX and Ultra are still in the lead.

I would wait for newer drivers which optimise the card before we start jumping to conclusions about the card.

If newer drivers optimize the 8800GTS they'll optimize the 8800GT too as they the same chip aint they just the GTS has more SP's and texture units with a higher clock.

So would you think there is any point someone flogging a GT for a GTS and possible loosing a couple of quid?

mmm i dont trust this review. how can the GT beat the GTS and the 2900 be right on their heels (by only a few fps)
Even the 3870 beats the GTS

Edit: ok it bounces back at higher res lol :O

Wait for other reviews then but Tweaktown has a good rep I thought. Of course it is possible for the GT to beat a GTS in one games, hell the 8600GTS was shown to be beating an 8800GTS in a review some time ago, its proberbly just glitched in the game or drivers.

Well seeing as the GTS is clocked higher than a standard GT and of course has more shaders, the performance over the GT is frankly very weak to say the least, even if i had not purchased a GT, i would not still get one over the GT because i prefer the single slot cooling, the card looks better to.:o

The GT cooler is sort of like the Ultras just the fan aint in the weird place it is on an Ultra. I hate been sucked into the hype but if some 'n00b' buys my 8800GT on the bay for 190 quid with 10 quid postage I'll be getting a GTS.
