**Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Thread**

Can't see my buying one after just getting the 1080 on release, have gamed less since i upgrade my GPU and ultrawide screen, gaming is becoming so dull these days i wonder why i bother.

Can't see VEGA beating this, even with HBM2 (which I've seen no evidence is any better than GDDR5X)... the question is however what PRICE it will be, because that's going to be the key. Seems more likely at this stage that it will be slightly better than 1080 (perhaps 10%), but the same price (or less even). Not to be sniffed at, but if you want the top performing GPU, the 1080Ti will be where it's at.

I haven't been around here much for a while... but am baffled by how people can think the current prices of GPU's are OK?

When I got 980ti, it was already pushing the limits of sensible pricing.

Now we have had the GTX 970 "equivalent" costing in the same range as the 980ti, and the 1080 ti is now pushing £200 more than the 980 ti was (roughly)

Brexit can only be blamed so much... is it simply a case of nvidia went down Intels route of pricing things such simply "because" ?

Lets' hope Vega knocks some sense back into all this, like Ryzen seems to able to do for CPU's

As much as I like nvidia cards, their pricing is ridiculous.

Oh lets release a beast card which hardly anyone can afford, and in 6 months we'll release a new tock card which beats it for less money and everyone will be all over it because it looks like it's good value. Genius marketing though, I hope someone got a nice fat bonus for that.

I kinda wish I hadn't bought a G-sync monitor so I can get off Mr. Nvidias wild ride.

Stop using logic and making sense!!!!

:p ;)

I am just happy to see Titan XP pricing coming down as it was expected to do so. If Vega does not deliver then at least I can look forward to Volta bringing 1080Ti performance down to £350-400 while running cooler and quieter :D

Will be interesting what Volta brings, if it will be anything like the performance gains expected by Nvidia.

Nvidia just dropped 1080 pricing to $499, anyone paying more than £499 is being taking for a ride right now. Within a day or two the rebates for retailers will filter through and prices will drop on websites(for those willing to do so and if you stop buying they will).

When was the last time Nvidia actively dropped prices just for the good of their customers? Now out of nowhere, with a basically $600 price gap to install the 1080ti in between the 1080 and Titan X rather than put it in the middle and make more money, they chose to displace the 1080, drop it's price $200 and put down their profits on every single SKU.

Nvidia decided to be altruistic, for the first time in 20 years and completely against the ethos of the company, or something scared them into cutting the prices of every core they make.

317mm^2 core at $699, or 470m^2 core at $699, which has vastly more profit at that price point. 1080ti is 50% larger die size, which will increase direct costs maybe about 70%(yields go down as die size goes up), more memory within that prices is less profit on the actual chips. On top of that presuming 1080ti is available from AIBs and not just Nvidia, they cut out the extra profit reserved for themselves from the Titan X as they have to give up some of the profit to the AIB.

Nvidia would never, ever do this without feeling they had to, I can't think of a single reason other than Vega that they would feel they had to, can anyone here?

Well £700 is just for the basic Nvidia card, if you want a decent 3rd party card from the likes of MSI, Gigabyte etc...you can add another £100.
Nope because if you remember nVidia charged more for the clown card. If i do some quick conversions $699 is roughly, £567.60. Add 20% tax and that's £681.12. Round it up then it should be no more than £690 to make good on $ to £ conversions.
However nvidia have listed it as £699 on thier page... Which still means we are getting bummed some where cos that's almost a extra £20 out of no where or rather $24 on top of their own MSRP.
Anyways the custom cards were either slightly cheaper or the same price as nvidia. Remember the founders card were supposed to be that way. Charging more for a "premium" product.

Also who remembers the 980Ti owners get first spot in line for the 1080Ti as per a certain job advertisement with a "Step Up’ offer in the works for GTX 980Ti owners?

It is coming and that price is bloody fantastic!

Anyway as no surprise, 1080 PRICE DROP and 1070 FE PRICE DROP ACTIONED ON OcUK, NOW LIVE! :)

1080 from £488.99 shipped!
1070 from £359.99 shipped!

Good times! :)
