**Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Thread**

To
I haven't been around here much for a while... but am baffled by how people can think the current prices of GPU's are OK?

When I got 980ti, it was already pushing the limits of sensible pricing.

Now we have had the GTX 970 "equivalent" costing in the same range as the 980ti, and the 1080 ti is now pushing £200 more than the 980 ti was (roughly)

Brexit can only be blamed so much... is it simply a case of nvidia went down Intels route of pricing things such simply "because" ?

Lets' hope Vega knocks some sense back into all this, like Ryzen seems to able to do for CPU's

To be fair, although Nvidia increased the price of the 1080 to more than it should have due to lack of competition, the dollar price doesn't change that much for Nvidias flagship cards. I think the 8800gtx was $599 from memory and the ultra was $829 so $699 for the 1080ti isnt bad at all.

What has changed over the years is that we don't get $2.4 to the pound anymore, only half that now so with every generation there has always being a £50 or so increase due purely to the exchange rate. Even now, with the 1080 at the new reduced price, it would have being £100 less pre brexit. People wouldn't be complaining so much if you could buy a clown 1080 today for £388.

Of course if we still had 2.4 to the dollar even the 1080ti would only be £349.50. Doesn't sound too bad at that price does it?

But our exchange rate is based on the fact that we are a wealthy country and can afford such exchange rate prices.

Panic selling of 1080's has commenced on the MM as people get home from work and realise what's happened
Yer, I did look this morning and not much at all but woahhhhhh, suddenly filling up but on the same breath, I don't blame people. Mine will be sold once I get my 1080Ti but not before and I expect a big hit in selling but not fussed.

Have we any idea how much better this new FE cooler is than the previous one on the Titan and 1080? Would be pants to spend £700 and then have to spend another boat load to water cool it.

nVidia reckon it should be 5 degrees better at the same TDP compared to a 1080. with 2.5dB less noise. So very minute and pretty mucht the same. Probably most difference comes from removing the DVI as that sucker blocked 1rd of the back end of the vents.
