it is too expensive, now saying that i have considered buying a titan, its too expensive but i buy loads of items that are "too expensive". it doesn't change the fact that at the moment we are getting short end of the stick g/cards wise , they definitely cost too much.:)

 If people are happy to part with their cash, then it's not *too* expensive. The market dictates the price, so if it's not too expensive @£899, how is it still too expensive @£500 - that's what the guy claims, living in a dream world.

Those prices are extremely unlikely IMO.
Unlikely yes, in a duo-poly led market. But with the right circumstances and fierce competition, prices should drop pretty quickly.
Consumers will slowly have different demands now, and the industry must adapt to that.
I'l get flamed for saying it, but the supposedly power Titan X is quite unimpressive. Its a great card when relatively compared to the weak state of the current line-up, but in itself its weak.
Incase some of you haven't noticed, majority of games we have that can make the titan X choke like an old messed up locomotive are infact last-generation optimized games. Far Cry 4 last-gen optimized, Shadows of Mordor last-gen optimized, Grand Theft Auto V last-gen optimized. Most of these games will make any Titan X choke at 4K max settings. 30-40 fps is not a premium experience, for a premium card.

Lets wait and see for Witcher 3 I guess. But I have a good instinct that Witcher 3 is only the start of new things to come for next-generation graphical demands. Ideally you'd want to be able to run Far Cry 5 in 2016 where development focus go into PS4/XB1/PC, and not PS3/360 as was the case with Far Cry 4.
Call it a conspiracy, but imo Titan X will be nothing more then a wet noodle in 2016. I guess I just have different expectations.

Whether current cards are up to 4K or not, and at what detail settings, is another issue.

Even with strong competition from AMD, we won't see the prices suggested, even 2nd hand, for a good while.

loads of people buy items that they know are "too expensive"(me being one of them,)if you want new tech you pay the early adopter tax, having the disposable income to buy an item doesnt make it any less costly, depends where you place your priority's realy.:)

I'm not going to argue over semantics, but if it's too expensive....what are you buying it for ;)

i agree,nvidia/amd are in business to make money.a third player would shake the market up but there's not much chance of that.

I'm fairly sure the 780Ti launched around £200 more than the 780 ?
Which would put it around the £650 mark. Here's a guess...

980 550 euro's (~£450)
980 TI 700 euro's (~£550 to 600)
Titan X 1000 euro's (~£950)

Actual face palm....
If you're buying it, it's not *TOO* expensive, it's just expensive. Like i said previously, i'm not going to argue over semantics. Bored enough on the Sunday.

"Too expensive", by definition, implies you won't buy it. Otherwise it's just "expensive" or "exorbitant".

What's "too expensive" for one is merely "expensive" to another. It's a relative term.

You could argue the semantics until the cows come home, though. I think we can all agree that they're more expensive than they perhaps should be.

Well if the rumour is to be believed then this will probably hit around September, Definitely going to wait for both 390X and 980 Ti benchmarks before I commit.

Plus I need/want a new monitor, It's either wait for an IPS version of the Swift or Get the Freesync version of the Swift if I go AMD again.

Decisions decisions :p

a £500 loaf is too expensive even although you have 50k in your pocket, its all relative tbh. go to church that will cure the boredom:p
