Was the same thing when titan x launched and many noticed it was louder, yet oddly enough it was barely ever mentioned in the titan x thread. Funny how that works
Tbh, both camps have had hot running cards. Gtx 400 series being one of note. As mentioned, probably the cooker used has had its day. Aftermarket ones should be a lot better as with 290 series.
So is the ti coming up warmer than the TX? Why would this be?
600?! I assume you are looking at a 3rd party? mine totalled £661.39 from OC!
Should I be looking to add additional fans to a Fractal Define Mini (1 x20cm front and 1x 20cm rear) to house a reference 980Ti?
Hi, sorry if this is stupid, but as a GPU neophyte - is there any problem with a missing back plate? Ie, should I be looking to buy something to fill the gap, or are they ok like that? Are they renowned dust traps or anything?
Had 470 sli here, very hot despite being reference models in a very well ventilated case. Ideally id prefer a reference cooled card this time as I made the mistake of sticking x2 windforce 780's in my current setup. I usually end up running sli later down the line.haha indeed
A bit like the 480/470 as well...
same thing for power consumption too, remember the "need a nuclear power plant to power that thing" comments?
Yup, both sides have had some hot and loud cards when the other side has been cooler and quieter.
Personally I would prefer a cooler and quieter card but bang per buck is always the number one priority for me and if that is superb then I can make do with having a tiny sun in my pc
Excellent, thanks. Not necessary with it exhausting the hot air out the case.
I'm confused about this I saw on TTL's video

The worlds most advanced GPU?
ahem......wtf[/QUOTE]
Well, they use the same GPU as the Titan X (before it's nerfed). But probably just the Titan X box.
*snip*
Its all housed in a Corsair carbide 540 air with maximum airflow through 3 courgar vortex 120s in the front and SP140 in the top and back. Should be noted that its sunny here and a bit warmer than it normally is.That's so odd as OC3D's OC'd card topped out around at 84-87 and with boost it was at 1410+Mhz on the core to reach those temps.
Then again chassis design, air intake, and ambient temps all have a part to play as well.
That is really low graphics score....
is the card throttling?
Edit
Here is a comparison with my OC'ed 980
