**Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 Ti Review Thread**

Well i can say right now the reference cooler doesnt seem to do a very good job at cooling this bad boy.

EDIT: And its pretty noisy to.. this is after 5 minutes of witcher 3 with everything maxed at 3440x1440 including hairworks.. was out in the wilderness where i got roughly 45 fps.

I am more than sure there is an issue there should not be up into the 80s

Scratch that just seen a furmark result at 83c but still 87c ouch does look like that modal ref cooler has reached its limit

I think i might just have one of the less good samples. That happens.. The gpu score in firestrike is on par with the reviews when the fan is set to 80%. So the decision is to redo the paste and/or fit another cooler.. or return the card. Im not that impressed really. Maybe it will grow on me dunno... oh and regards to the 87 degrees in witcher.. that game seems to punish the gpu more than most other games ive tried so fare.

it isn't exactly Phixsator's first post ...

hope you get it sorted Phixsator :) with no. of these cards that will be bought you'll soon know if its more of a generic problem or if you have a duff sample

It's a reference 980Ti with no vapour chamber. My GTX Titans will hit 80c without a custom fan profile as will most reference cards.

?? I thought I'd heard in reviews it "was" the Titan cooler with Vapor chamber

not the cut-down reference cooler used on some previous cards

Maybe that was just the 980 but still, its not going to be cool or quiet. You think that's bad, look at a reference 290 :p

I think its a troll photo as the fan speed only 63%

LOL

I don't know what others think but I would take it back... \thst id not right. If it can't run without throttleing then it is defective.

Not everybody is confident with graphics cards n stuff and whilst you are, someone who is not and bought it, would most definitely not be getting what they paid for....

yeah i just bought for 600 worth of graphics and now i want to belittle my purchase with fake troll pics.. sure that makes a ton of sense.

Sadly, you show what is what and always someone wants to accuse you of this and that but good that you posted and I appreciate it.

Temps to me look too high and with a cluster lasered off, it should in theory run cooler than a TX but mine has never gone over 75c with a 1:1 fan profile. Maybe poor contact on the cooler? or is this a common thing with the Ti?

Nope. What you have will be pretty standard. Lot's of review sites that you can't trust so don't go thinking you have received a bum card or anything.

I trust techpowerup, and their 980 ti review confirms your own findings.

(other than eyeballing the stats, you kind of need to read the comments, esp in the conclusion to get the information that you need)

as I said in other thread remember quite a few review sites I think use open test benches ?

my 290 Tri-X gets hotter than in most reviews as it heats the case up then the ambient temps inside don't then cool it down that well

GTA V Pics incomming. Everything maxed out except the use of MXAA which is set to 0. Using FXAA instead. Kept between 58-70 fps @ 3440x1440 which i think is pretty good. Temp were not over 82 and noise was non existing so not that bad. Vram went as high as 4400mb :P.. Glad i didnt settle for 2x 970s :P

Lowest FPS of 28ish in the hills. But in the cards defense. Grass on ultra absoluty destroys fps when around these parts. Im not holding it against the card in the slightest.

@Phixsator sorry if I jump quick to conclusion from the photo itself.

I hope it will sort out for you

No worries.. Sorry if i went on a bit to sarcastic. Im a bit tired right now but thats no excuse.

The TX also throttles when left to the default NVidia fan profile and a 1:1 fan is quite noisy but never see's the TX throttle, so a trade off. When I am just gaming, I allow the card to throttle to keep the noise down and I can't ever say I have noticed that in games.

For reference, here is my 3DMark Firestrike score

Perhaps gsync "covers up" any stutters that you might have?
