**Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 Ti Review Thread**

Now to sell 970 for 980ti or sli the 970, thats the question... But damn good looking card, wonder what the price will come in at.

We knew it was coming anyway.

I just don't see why some peoples first thoughts on entering a 980ti review thread are to bash TX owners instead of commenting on the reviews? Comes across as a little insecure.

I don't think people are trying to bash tx owners on purpose. Look at the oc3d review ttl says nvidia wont like him saying it, but the titan x is now pointless.
The bigger story here isn't the 980ti, its the fact its essentially a titan x for nearly half the cost. Which is quite shocking and a big talking point. If id paid for a tx id be a bit annoyed but at the end of the day you can always wait for what's round the corner. You have to pay your money and accept the consequences. You should be annoyed at nvidia, not people like me. Or just be happy for what you have. The 980ti doesnt stop the tx being a good card. For me and many people though the extra 6gb vram an max 2 months of use isnt worth £400

Also, on the Anandtech written review, benchmarks mention a R9 290X Uber, wtf is that? Is it the 290X rebrand?
Reference 290Xs have a BIOS switch that toggles between Quiet and Uber modes. The latter raises the maximum fan speed a bit to prevent (as much) throttling.

It's not just Titan X owners who stand to lose in re-sale but GTX 980 owners as well.

I think us TX guys will lose more though. My extra 6GB vram is soaking up all my tears as I write this :p

I need to be calm and wait.....

I'm running 7860x1440 so was thinking that the Titan X's 12GB would tip the scales (in SLi/TriSLi) but with the spec/performance/price of the Ti I could get
three and save a lot. As they will be WC may be able to push them even further with a vendors card that maybe has more voltage control.

With my resolution unless AMD Have some magic method to make 4GB work like 6GB/8GB I don't think the 390X will be viable for me (unless the rumoured 8GB DDR5 cards appear) but I need to see what it can do.

I just hope the 390X launches soon, so we can see if it will affect the prices or not.

Though like I said, I'm not sure I can wait long, I'll be very temped to order a 980TI as soon as they are available :D Though I will try and wait!

TBH,its like people who ordered a GTX780 a few weeks before the R9 290 series came out and within a month there was a mini price war. Nvidia dropped the price of the GTX780 to make the R9 290X look worse value and introduced the GTX780TI and then AMD dropped the price of the R9 290 and upped the clockspeed a bit(IIRC) to undercut the GTX780.

I think waiting a month or so make sense, even if you are getting a GTX980TI since at least for the next year or so,there should be no high end single GPU gaming cards from either company until they can use a new process node.

People need to read the GTX980TI reviews.

I think if Fiji was a dud, there would be none of this hinting happening IMHO!

Neither would Nvidia be essentially re-introducing the Titan X at a much lower price point.

Its going to be an interesting month for cards methinks!

I just hope the price drops on the GTX970 too since the GTX980 is now cheaper.

+1
All of the speculation includes why Nvidia would cripple their own Titan X with this 980ti? Folks think they might be scared of the wildcard AMD has up their sleeves (pun totally intended). Titan X hasn't had anything near to time that the original had before the 780ti release. I'm even more interested to see what AMD now has. Also hope for 970 price drops. I could go 970 SLI right off the bat or go for a price-dropped 980.

With AMD's crappy drivers of late I personally couldn't care if it was 20-25% faster than the Ti at the same price, I'd STILL go nVidia until AMD improve their support :)

It's just common sense that the majority of users here can't afford or are not prepared to spend £1000 on a GPU, feel quite amused at the situation, as it's a 'win' for them. They get a similarly performing GPU for half the price. The extra 6GB VRAM on the Titan isn't that useful to most people.

That said, I'd expect none of the TitanX owners to care, since their cards are still more powerful overall, and will last longer, thanks to the 6GB of VRAM.

The only titanX owners that I can see being annoyed are those who took out credit to buy one - I.E. Buyers who could barely afford one.

^^ It's definitely worth waiting a bit longer if you're looking at buying now as a few reviews and videos have hinted that it's worth seeing what AMD have to offer, even if it does just cause another price adjustment on the Nvidia cards.

Yet again contradicting opinions in terms of noise, anandtech say its slightly louder than the tx, other sites not agreeing.

Dont turn this into AMD vs Nvidia!

Just an head up Single GPU performance is perfectly fine! odd crossfire support lacking is what you should be saying!!

If you going to post such junk make sure its correct junk first..

I'll say no more keep this on topic..
