*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3080 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

Its complete luck getting a card. I managed to see a batch of TUF OCs appear on another site last Monday and had the card on Wednesday. I know a few retailers have stock but are only using these for pre build systems.

Looks like I should be buying a whole prebuilt then :D

Just ordered my "2nd" attempt at trying to get a ROG 3080 strix OC - from a smaller pc building site thats also stocking the card and apparently in mid-late Novembers's batch im 13th in queue over there so i might actually get it sooner than my current order here.... which was placed on 17th sept. (i made this new order today) For those interested
What is the site? Able to pm it?

It doesn't prevent competition, other businesses are just as free to put up pre-orders, and some did.

The original ETAs listed on the site were for the initial delivery batch, but orders quickly exceeded the number of cards in that batch. There are no estimates for when cards are arriving, that's the bottom line. Normally they only know of next batches shipping a few days ahead of when they do, and when that happens Gibbo posts them in the dedicated thread. Beyond that there is no more information, you can complain all you like but that's the reality we're in right this moment and no one appears to be an exception to that, including competitors.

Some of us WANT to queue even if we don't have updates, because it allows us to get into a queue ahead of others and get us our cards as fast as possible. Just because you don't want to use such a service because the shipment info is super important for you (for some reason), doesn't mean we should all be denied the ability to pre-order just because you don't like it, that's monumentally selfish.

Like others have said if you care so much then just cancel for a full refund. Refunds by most accounts are processed quite fast. We all know you wont however, because beyond all the complaining about lack of info, we all know the benefit of being in a pre-order queue is we'll get our cards as soon as they're available, where as if you leave then you'll get your card much later and you'd be dumb to shoot yourself in the foot and wait longer than you have to, over something as trivial as an ETA.
a couple of questions :)

The ETAs were just that. I find it odd that they managed to increase the price yet "forgot/couldn't" remove the inaccurate stock estimate.

NOBODY wants to queue, ever. We're british though so we queue and accept **** like this when really we shouldn't.

Are you getting your card as fast as possible? or just a fast as possible for OC after they've fulfilled pre-builds, staff orders, let people push in etc etc. Are other people who ordered later elsewhere getting it faster?

I'm going to (like most) stay in the queue because who doesn't like options and if we have the funds to place multiple orders and hedge our bets then why not :)

Yes a refund is possible. Unfortunately after you have been guided/tricked into purchasing a particular product its quite difficult to do anything and the refund option puts you right at the back of the queue for anything else.

I WILL SHOUT SO YOU CAN HEAR THIS LOUD AND CLEAR (AND ALL OF THE OTHER PEOPLE WHO KEEP ASKING THE SAME QUESTION). ANY UPDATES ARE ON THE UPDATE THREAD PROVIDED BY GIBBO...IF THERE IS NOTHING THERE THEN THERE IS NO UPDATE HERE...YA GET ME?!
I wish that were true. As it stands we seem to work things out ourselves days before any update in that thread

"Luckily, Overclockers UK is one of the NVIDIA’s biggest partners which guarantees we will always be one of the very first companies to acquire stock in the UK"

Yeah great guarantee that was then lol

And what's with "the" before NVIDIA, they can't even write a simple sentence and proof read it on the main 3080 page on their site.
SMH
one of the nvidias biggest 1000(ish) uk partners. The trouble is they're so low down the list that nvidia don't have the space to mention them on the partners page :p

Because they are parasites, providing nothing of value to society or the economy. You're just a 21st Century Delboy, scamming people.
Thats a bit unfair. My friend has a zotac atm with a strix hopefully coming in november. I also have multiple orders elsewhere. If we decide to sell on and get a few quid for our efforts then whats the problem. Nobody is being scammed if they pay a price they're happy with and get the item they expect. I suggest you research the term scam :p

We keep seeing people mention legalities. Actions speak louder than words. Instead of talking about it, why not do something. Don't complain when your orders cancelled and you're left with nothing though ;)

I found a seller with a Palit 3090 available for next day delivery but it was over £600 more than what I have already paid for my Strix OC. It was just sat there looking at me with its add to cart icon, I was sorely tempted, I really was, but an extra £600? I couldn’t justify it...so as much as it broke my heart I passed. :(:(

Yeah I've had chance of FE, Palit and MSI today but I just can't justify extra cost over 80

I think this is where myself and my friend ordered from last week. we were 7th & 9th in the queue for novembers shipment. We we're told the shipment would def be enough to cover our orders but i'm not counting any chickens just yet. Their response time and detail of their replies was amazing though. OC could learn a thing or 2 from the smaller guys :)

Does anyone have any idea how large an 'OK amount' is?

They use such terms to decieve the community, that way we have les of an idea as to how much the queue should be movimg and that they are esentially stealing our places in the queue to give our cards to people who prebuild a system for a higher margin.

Kind of like selling the cards to the highest bidder.

A business who behaves like a scalper.

Yeah, let's just take millions of pounds from people and tell them we don't know. Cause that's how business is done. Lol. I have a bridge to sell you... Smh

Right, but a lot (most?) of us are fine with that. There's thousands of people still in the queue because while it has downsides like lack of information and taking payment up front, it has the upside that we'll all get our cards faster than 99% of everyone else.

The problem is the downsides are felt now but the upside is only felt at the end. If you stay in a queue and you get your card in nov/dec for example then you're going to be happy you got yours while millions of gamers will still be waiting for their cards well into 2021.

If that trade off is not worth it for you then cancel, it's that simple. If your'e going to stick with your preorder you'll have to come to accept that there's very little information on ETAs because the cards havn't even finished being built yet. The answer is we don't know for sure, it's not OCUK trying to p*ss in your cornflakes for the hell of it, they genuinely lack decent information themselves, as ALL the retailers do. If there was another retailer offering perfect insight and we could compare the 2 and OCUK was behind then maybe we could justify the moaning, but that's just not true.

There's no better alternative here, shy why moan about the best service you can get? Yes it sucks, we all get that but it's not a shortage that OCUK created.

Ain't ocuk to blame, NVIDIA is not shipping near enough chips, 3070 gonna be the same.

Danish retailer received 86 GeForce RTX 3070 graphics cards in 12 days

There are multiple competitors providing better up-to-date information to customers with more transparency, easy to access, and reliable updates. This isn't the best service we could get and people are justified complaining about the comms situation.
They're just not justified complaining they don't have a card yet.
