NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080Ti to be "available" on June 3rd, RTX 3070Ti on June 10th

Receiving copies of driving licenses by email?
yeah great idea, whilst your at it, send photo ID, national insurance number, mother's maiden name and a photo of your bank card, front & back :cry::cry:...and don't worry that email isn't particularly secure and we don't have the manpower to vet hundreds of orders

Can we please stop with the suggestions.

Yea... not a chance Id be providing photo-ID to any store to buy a dam card.

Some hilarious ideas suggested... either breaching data protection or being an absolute man-power nightmare.

Just because email is inherently insecure doesn't mean that it cant be used to communicate securely. Your new driving license arrives to you in the snail mail but nobody bats an eyelid at that. Like I said - Hassle more than issue. Irrelevant anyway as more than anything it's not practical.

Not sure the point you're trying to make now as you seem to have backtracked.

My initial thought was that it wasn't a good idea on so many levels. Emailing a copy of a driving license to a company that could be receiving hundreds or even thousands but isn't geared up to deal with the accessing and storage of that information.

Fact remains though, how do you get the secret link to genuine members and not just scalpers with like 10 forum posts without posting it exclusively in MM? The logistics of actually making the sale are only part of the issue they face.
Industrial scalpers use bots. This method fools bots. We are not aiming for tighter restrictions because they are too hard to implement. Some forum members need to up their game if they want a GPU.

You said you read them all and considered them all. Now you're say you don't want any more... Oh I see ;-)

Hey ScottiB will overclockers be selling rtx 3070ti`s on release or do you not have the stock to make it worthwhile .

Pub/Sub Distribution lists are the more likely issue than bots, bot's aren't great at dealing with high contention websites (such as on launch day) as the site tends to break around that time, which usually breaks the bots.
It's also common for the site developers to change the website which can break many of the testing framework based bots (Selenium WebDriver and the like).

It's also extremely dangerous to give your live cash account details away to a bot. Even if you implemented and self host it, it could still potentially buy a overpriced item if they are not implemented well enough.

right now we've got twenty cards and the landed price is...how can I say this politely?...B******T
Nvidia say they are "working on it" but it's fair to say that this launch is going to be difficult.
Nobody seems to be entirely prepared for it.

LOL yes we did sell a few £10K card sales when we were doing the voucher code deals.

I'm not sure how this relates to me but thanks for the info. However, you seem to contradict #everyone#, bots are doing well at stopping humans from making purchases.

Just get forum members to pop their names on a list, advise how many cards you have for sale, then pull the names out of a hat. Give them 24 hours to respond via the forum and then move on to the next name on the list if no response.

Doesn’t get much simpler than that, especially if you have less than 100 cards to sell.

Pretty much what I suggested a while back and also a revised version that made more sense to OC. They already know which way they are going to go so just leave it to them.

How about only allowing OCUK “men of honour” to buy the next batch of 3080s?

…sorry, only kidding. I’m patiently waiting for more normality, fully aware that it’ll take rather a while
