*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3090 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

Hello everyone,
I’ve followed this Forum right from ordering my Strix oc 3090 at 14:28 on it’s release and I’ve finally decided to join in the chat.
I’m in a bit of a dilemma, and wanted all of your opinions on what to do.
I sold my 2080 ti about 6 months ago to get as much as I could for it, and after joining this preorder and having to wait so long, have regretted it to no end.
So, I’m buying my mates 2nd hand 1080ti to push me on for now.
my concern is, if hypothetically there is a 3080ti and once OCUK and everyone else has added what they believe the Strix oc version should be sold at. I’m guessing it would be about £1300.00 for a card that’s pretty much going to run a couple of percent less than this one I have ordered on here. My worry is, when I come to sell my 3090 then in a couple of year when the next upgrade comes up, will it only be worth what a 2nd hand 3080ti is?
I mean, no one will want to pay what the 3090 should be worth 2nd hand would they? When the 3080ti is around that value brand new.
I suppose I’m concerned how much the resale value will degrade with this model?
Sorry for such a long message, I just don’t know if should hold out for a hypothetical 3080ti and cancel or stick with it, I’m only 76 in the queue now.

We know Ti variances will come to us at some point, its just a matter of when. Personally, I doubt they could really be working on 3080Ti when they cant even make enough standard versions at the moment. And they would P off a lot of us if just as got our 3080s after months of waiting just for them release their Ti refresh, there woiuld be a massive backlash.

i would guess, a 2nd hand 3090 will only be worth a shade more than a 2nd hand 3080. no one can give prices as it there is a lot of variances. How good/better will the 3080s/TI be? In a year's time how much of a performance the RTX 4000 series will bring? and what AMD will bring to the table in 12month time with their 7000series. they might do to Nvidia what they have done to Intel

The 3090 really cant justify its price as it is in a gaming sense, so it will take the biggest loss is in resale value.

I'll leave you with this, no one buys a high performance bit of kit thinking about resale value. You put your hard earned down to enjoy it!!!

You do realise the 3090 is over double the price of a 3080 right ?... A shade over a 3080... keep dreaming.

This thread definitely seems to have quietened down a bit lately.

Is that due to people getting their cards and bowing out, or everyone just giving up hope :D

I manadged to get a 3090 FE very happy with it

Canclled my 3090 STRIX OC got fed up with waiting and the price tag was ridiculous

Max temps I have seen on my FE are 69 degrees and that's not even with a custom fan curve

The cable supplied is a 12 pin, you are supoosed to connect 2 x 8 pin cables to that, what you have done is plugged in 2 x 6pin cables from your PSU which isnt right. use tha cable that comes with card and plug in the 2 X 8 pin cables from PSU to that.

Hi i dont understand. its 2 seperate cables. none of the ends of them have a 12pin. my PSU isnt modular the cables are coming out of a gromit. i cant plug anything in and out of the psu the cables are hardwired in.

They have supplied 2 cables in the box. On end of each cable is 2 x 6pins and the other side has a 8 pin. where do the 2x6pins go? my card has 2 x 8pin slots (16sloT). i cant see where the 12pin is supposed go.

Do you have the FE version?
If so then 12 pin goes at the top of the card.
And the 2 X 8 Pins go to your VGA 8 pin cables(from the power supply)

You have got a 850W power supply haven't you?

Hi yep i have 850w psu.

I dont have FE. I just have a zotac trinity 3090. On top of card there is 2 x 8 pin slots.

Out of my psu i have two cables 8pin cables that say PCI-e

I just plugged them in .

Not sure what to do with cables supplied

My 3090 zotac trinity stopped working on me. Black screen on bootup. Was fine for 3 days only. Got it Friday. Thats why i was asking about the power cables but confirmed i had done it correctly.

1.4k and they cant even make the cards properly. Stuck my old 2070 back in working fine....
