*** NVIDIA GEFORCE RTX 3090 SERIES STOCK SITUATION - NO COMPETITOR DISCUSSION ***

Am I right in thinking the queue number is related to the specific model of the card, and not order number / multi model related?

154th for the ROG Strix seems hopeless. And with waiting til Jan seems nutty. Thats more than just unprecedented demand on a 3090!

If that is the case, waiting with your current queue position will probably be the quickest way to get your order. Anyone only deciding now they want one has no hope!

Yeah apparently 3090 is not for gamers

How do you know for certain, they’ve dealt with this terribly and won’t release anything. I only ordered there as I couldn’t get on this website and won’t use them again.
Because that's what I was told by my account manager when I phoned him up at 1:50pm to place my order ;) (we waited until 2pm on the dot and he sent it through the system super quick)

Also, I just got my confirmation email today!

Of course, still no stock in the country... so I gotta wait like everyone else :(

I know how you feel! When I got my queue position (4) I thought I’d get it pretty immediately, being undoubtedly in the first batch. I still kinda feel guilty how when we have ours we’ll probably forget about this thread and other people will be waiting on theirs for months

January delivery? Wow.. there is no way this was not a paper launch! Nvidia and board partners knew there was a problem for sure. I get being caught short but not being able to meet expectations by several months and taking orders without informing us or suppliers properly is simply not good business practice in any business. One week or two ok, but several months is clearly not ok. Also having known that the 3080s had this huge problem why even entertain us by giving 3090 ( forcing some of us to have no choice but consider it and biting the bullet) and now talking about launching the 3070. Surely you would think it would be all hands on deck to sort out the supply of the 3080 before doing anything else...

Im sitting tight for now, no PC as i dont have a GPU and have no choice but to wait. I know OCUK are doing all they can to get their hands on some cards so im trusting them to do what they can to get us a card as soon as they become available. Loyal customer for over 10 years and never had an issue.

Also on the argument that they didn't expect the demand to outstrip the supply is hard to believe that they didnt factor in that the 20 series didnt do as well as the 10 series and many like myself didnt make the jump waiting to skip a generation, plus the consoles just around the corner to push the need for enthusiasts to fork out on a new GPU..

Nobody is forcing anybody to do anything... lmao. So, you don't have a GPU because you chose to sell it without a replacement, I assume... guess what, there's a tonne of stock for GPU's that you could have by tomorrow, just not the shiny new one that has just been launched. Whatever the sitation.. its on you. Nobody else.

Thats why im sitting tight, but completely understand those that made the change to a 3090... for whatever reason it might be. Some of us had no plans to spend another 2 to 300 on a GPU after paying over 600£ on one. So i dont see why that is funny...

And no its not on me.. just like it wasnt on any of us waiting on a card...

Because if you don't want to spend more money on a gpu, then.. erm.. don't and wait until the one you actually want is available.
The only reason people would trade up is "to get it quicker" unless reviews come out and they re-evaluate what they want and its suitability, etc.. but ultimately that is a choice you make, nobody forces anything. That is why its funny and also why scalping works, it seems.

And yes, it is on me. I can choose not to wait for the card if I want, there is a cancellation option pinned on the forum. I choose to wait. Me, nobody forced me to.

It's one thing being disappointed because something didn't go your way, but another to say its being forced upon you when its not, period.

General question: do the 30 series chips run cooler than 20 series?

I’m not on about the performance of the heatsinks, I mean from a pure chip point of view.

Yes, I think so. I went for this because I had something telling me that I might be lucky with the KFA2. I liked the idea of the extra fan at the end of the card to enable the pulling of hot air away from the card, similar to the 3090FE. The only down side is the two year warranty, but will get extra warranty with third party insurance. That'll probably be an extra £50 or more. Don't plan on overclocking anyway as only have 4k monitor and it seems the 3090 can run all games max at 4k 60+ FPS, besides the Crysis Remastered, until they release the DLSS patch.
