** NVIDIA GTX 1080 FOUNDERS EDITION: WANNA PRE-ORDER?

So they want £620 for a card that isn't even that good :p

Yep,

The FE is a flop both in cooler and price.

But blower fan throttling is not a new phenomena...So it amazes me why people are surprised. I think this time the stated 62C NV claim has shot them in the foot. No one uses their fans on 100%

That's why I won't be buying one.

But then again I never was. Blower fans suck :p

it was the only way they could legitimise charging such a ridiculous price and not calling it what it is... a basic Reference card! Whoever came up with that bright idea should be sacked.

You don't get sacked for a cosmetic tweak and jacking the price up with a rebranded product, likeliehood- they'll have been rewarded with a promotion and whover buys thems cash. :p

They only have one purpose and that is in SLI. Blower fans are crap on their own. Even a decent AIB cooler suffer badly in SLI though.

My MSI 6g's hit 82c+ in SLI, even at 100% fan speed. Whereas my ref cards only hit 77c with the same 1:1 profile. I even locked the MSI's to 70% fan speed and one hit 91c.

Hense why I watercooled both ref cards and have not looked back.

But yes every blower performs the same as previous gens. Just the 67c has blown it out of proportions I guess.

I've never had any issue with the blower on my 780, but then I don't overclock video cards. I have never felt they were robust enough. Maybe that's just the older cards though.

Anyway, sounds like they are having some teething problems with the thermals on the new die shrunk process.

That and the price is as good a reason as any to give these a wide berth for now.

I'm sure plenty of people will just rush out and buy one regardless though :p

Judging by the preorder pages, they already have

The option to pre-order has not yet been available, really its not even a proper pre-order. They will all become available to buy 2pm tomorrow. Get your F5 key ready :D

Interesting looking design. I do have to say I love how after market designs cool, but they all look like mess compared to reference design, even pascal design. Shame we can't get best of both world's :(

If I was to sli water would be the only way.

I do think that most non reference coolers are seriously ugly though :(

And I seriously hate blingy LEDs everywhere :(

I also like the fact that reference coolers exhaust hot air out the back of your case.

I guess they've tested it but in that configuration I'd be worried the outside fans would make the middle one run uneven making increased noise.

In The US

*** ** ***** shows that both the EVGA and ZOTAC models that could be preordered checked out within minutes. To be more exact, ******* sold all its EVGA GTX 1080 in 6 minutes, with ZOTAC lasting a full 12 minutes before going out of stock. -

Are you getting a 1080? Because I have the same motherboard as you and will be interested to see if it works ok because I know some people had issues with 980's with our M/B.
