NVIDIA GTX 970 OWNERS THREAD

the 970 plays games at 1080p on my 46 inch tv perfectly, i have no desire to meddle with it or overclock it. why do people want to stress expensive graphics cards? is the extra few fps really worth ruining the life of it?

Isn't OCCT regarded as a GPU killer? It's more than likely to throw up errors as it thrashes the GPU more than any game would. Try a few games or benchies instead

why for nono and why for rolley eyes?

Check for overclock stability under normal conditions like Gaming & benchmarks etc! Don't use that OCCT crap. Also when running your card under that kind of unnatural load, I suggest you run the card fans at 100% especially as from your screen shot you're also adding extra voltage to the card.

i notice your GPU temp = 81 degrees at 82% fan speed, this might be due to your core voltage being too high !!!! your GPU is under a lot of stress there, plus that software is more like Prime 95  i would dump that software and run ``Heaven Benchmark`` instead, keep MSI though

redo your overclock from scratch and focus on reducing the core voltage, because your other settings are similar to mine

interesting !

cheers guys...........had been using Valley tbh and when things were valley stable.....they were far from BF4 stable.

You edited your post but I have a question about the first version. How come you can set fan speed to 0% when my minimum is 31%?. Drivers 344.48 btw.

Just tested my new pair of EVGA GeForce GTX 970 Superclocked ACX 2.0. Fans should not work at all until 60C is reach, shouldn't they? My ones work @31% even when gpu is @29C. I reinstalled drivers, no change. Am I doing something wrong?
Compared to my Msi 780 twin frozr Evga fans are much louder. Bought them quite cheap but I am not sure I will keep them.

Yeh you need to update the firmware before this works it's a updated bios. Google evga 970gtx firmware

I did post the above a few pages back.

Bit pointless if you want to overclock though I'm happy using the aggressive fan profile to keep it cool when gaming then turn it off when browsing etc

Thank you. Found it but I will try it tomorrow because it so late.
Bit pointless, right, just wanted to check if new cards working allright:-)

Oh your cards are working as they should they were never ment to have a 0db mode like the msi only the evga 980 as standard does. so many people moaned they added it after to appease people :D

1: Because it's fun and virtually free extra performance - some people just like to squeeze as much value out of thier kit as possible.
2: They aren't that expensive.
3: You do know the name of the website you're on don't you?
4: With the limited voltage range available on the 970's, overclocking wont reduce thier lifespan. Voltage kills gpus/cpus, not clockspeed.

or if your 8pack, if its not broke then its not overclocked enough:D

Returned the Windforce as it was clearly someones reject, static bag was already open and taped up, missing CD and adapters.

Have returned it for the G1 which was available for £8 more and should have better cooling plus the backplate. Arrives tomorrow, weekend will be busy as I haven't had a proper PC since moving 2.5 years ago! So many games to catch up on and the Steam Sales wont help :P

Asus Strix 970 GTX installed today. Utterly silent. Very fast. Good choice!

Do these GPUs tend to sag in way that could cause damage to the PCIe port? I've read that the Strix I had my mind set on sags quite badly... I know it's probably the case with virtually any longer/heavier card but is it dangerous for the mobo in the long run or am I just overreacting? I'm planning to buy the card tomorrow and just want to be sure.

These cards do have a fair share of problems (the dreaded coil whine;/), makes me think twice before spending my hard earned dosh;p

Must say I agree with this sentiment when it comes to overclocking GPU's, it's something I've never done, and certainly won't be doing it with my Strix 970.

Loving my Asus card BTW, using DSR i can play quite a few games, especially Unreal Engine 3 games at 4K and 50-60fps!!!.

The likes of Dishonored and Remember Me look utterly stunning.

Arma II at 4K, 50fps is something to behold as well!!!

Can't wait until I add a second Strix to my rig next month.:p
