Mine clocks at 1367 on stock settings.

As for your question regarding boost, your overclock appends to the boosted value. So, if I add +100 to my core it will boost to 1467.

Where to look on my card to find out what RAM it has e.g SK Hynix/Samsung. I did notice GPU-Z showed this for an individual but when I check it doesn't come up with the brand of memory used.

Although my card seems to be boosting great etc. After reading peoples overclocking boundaries with an Hynix card compared to Samsung memory I guess when the day comes to needing that extra umph I won't have as much fun hitting that max OC! But I guess you never know!!!

Last question, Anyone with an MSI 970 GTX which has Hynix memory... What is the highest stable overclock you have achieved?

On a plus note, No coilwhine even at thousands and thousands of fps in some menu screens so I'll consider myself lucky.

What are you acheiving with the memory overclock?

I wouldn't worry about it too much, the shortfall you might experience in memory OC will barely be noticeable when gaming, if even at all.

Not touched the memory.

Think ill have a tinker tomorrow and see what my card can achieve.

But I don't plan on running an OC 24/7 until it needs the extra power as atm it's running everything maxed out easily. Just more curiosity purposes.
 
In that case you should start with +250 and work your way up in increments of 25 until you get problems or you decide your happy.

One of my cards is Hynix and doesn't like to clock above 250 but I think the SLI voltage bug may have something to do with that.

Anyway, it can do +250 so I expect that's a good starting point for you.
 
OCing memory on GTX 970 gives next to nothing. When I OC'ed mine from 1753@1903mhz I gained something like 1.7fps in unigine heaven 4.0 and next to nothing in 3dmark firestrike...maybe something like 0.3fps
Both my Gainward GTX 970 reference and MSI GTX 970 Gaming are with Samsung memory.
 
My OcUK Nvidia Cooler Edition arrived. Couldn't be happier.

Currently sitting at 1500MHz boost and 2000MHz (8000MHz) Memory. Stock volts.

I came from SLI 680 2GB. Crazy "upgrade" right? Not quite, actually. Even though this card technically has less horsepower than two 680's, Assassin's Creed Unity and Far Cry 4 now run beautifully. The experience is so much smoother compared to the SLI solution. I'm guessing the VRAM is helping quite a bit.

Only slight downside to this card is there is a slight coil whine, even when it was stated it should be completely gone. However, this only happens on game menu's which are running over 1k FPS, so it's not a big deal.

I really do not think the overclock matters a great deal with some of these cards.Of course we all want the highest overclocks to feel you got a great deal but it is not always the fastest when gaming with higher overclocks.

EG:I got me two of the 970GTX G1 Gigabyte cards.When I tested them alone here what my results were in lets say valley benchmark.

1.970GTX G1 Gigabyte with samsung ram Clocked 1540/7800
Valley FPS 65

2.970GTX G1 Gigabyte with hynix ram Clocked 1605/7800
Valley FPS 63.5

The lower clocked card was faster,could be a few things but they still run good.A Higher clocking card is not always faster.

When in SLI overclocking results are also not that dramatic either with a few more Mhz.

EG:Some 970GTX Gigabyte G1 SLI on Metro Last Light(Original Game) a total difference of 3.7 FPS not really much when you think about it.
From default to almost 1600 on core overclock.

1392/7600 started at 1405 dropped to 1392 on core



1506/7600



1538/7600


1558/7600


1593/7600 Higher overclock less FPS
 
Most people will have Overclocked there 970s.

But out of interest for those who run at Stock 24/7 or even those who have Overclocked after running at Stock.

which Brand 970 do you have, and at Stock what Core Boost's were you guys receiving.

Also what I don't understand is if my GTX boosts to 1393 at stock.. With an Overclock is also boosts OVER my Overclock so if it can boost higher after a slight Core increase it's obviously capable so why would it not just boost to what its capable of out of the box? :P (I understand I am overclocking it therefore higher core boost, but my point is let's say 1400 Mhz is the overclock why would it then boost OVER the set 1400mhz which is already faster than what it originally boosts at if this explains my point better)

Strix, 1342mhz boost clock. AFAIK, this happens because you're not overclocking the boost clock but the core clock. The boost clock doesn't have a set value per se and just goes up to whatever the card can squeeze out within its defined thermal/power limit. That's why when you set the core clock to a higher value, the boost clock follows suit and boosts over it.
 
Gerard - Your slower clocked on the core card with Samsung ram will be giving more fps because the Hynix based one at that speed is probably having to correct errors.

Yes I agree.
Just showing some overclocks ,highest overclock does not mean the best FPS on the maxwell cards.
Same as any other card out there you need to find the sweet spot for FPS in gaming.
Seems like some people going for the highest overclock and do not seem to notice at a certain point the clocks have negative effects.

It is more so with the memory as that has the ability to correct stuff now so it slows it right down.

Out of interest could you- put your Samsung one to the same core as the Hynix and get the Samsung memory to 8000 please?

I'd like to see the fps difference between 7600 MHz memory and 8000?

Wow at the amount of effort you put in for that. Thank you very much. Seems minimum FPS different is not a great deal and maximum is circa 4 and maximum of 8.

Its interesting you managed 7800 on your Hynix as I only managed 7640 whereas the Samsung seems a consistent 8000. Your testing does show however, that memory clock doesn't make a massive difference in comparison to core clock speed.

Out of interest which of your cards has the higher asic score?
 
Hey guys, I ve heard that some of GTX 970 GTX 980 have HDMI 2.0 300hz and 600hz.

as much as I googled that the asus put 600hz hdmi into gtx 970 & 980 cards?
