NVIDIA GTX 970 OWNERS THREAD

Hey guys, I just wanted some quick advice. I've got a 970 Gigabyte G1, and whenever I run furmark with dynamic background, burn-in, xtreme burn-in, and post FX enabled, my computer crashes immediately, as in immediate shut off. Now, if I run furmark with standard settings and push the TDP by even 1%, same thing. I have an 800W PSU so that's not the problem. All power cables connected of course. Any ideas, guys?

Furmark is evil, stop using it.

By the way, I think I have the SLI voltage bug. I've accessed via Teamviewer and ran Heaven :

GPU1 : 1.212v @99% load
GPU2: 1.15v @ 99% load

All on stock settings. Would this give me SLI stutter issues?

Palit sucks :(

Budget plastic like casing, cheap fans, low boost clocks and lack of custom bios options if any

Sounds like a good reason to give it miss then :D. Looks like I will be doing the Inno3D order tomorrow so it gets delivered Wednesday when some one is in. Thanks for the advice guys :).

I have read bad things about the Palit so I would go with the Inno3D too.

That said, my Inno3d has a min fan speed of 37%, which is a bit of a shame when idling or watching films. Wish I could hack a 0% state like the MSIs.

And to re-iterate if you clock your 970 to high you will lose performance, even if you don't crash. Throttling is a bitch on the 970's. I found the voltage to be the main culprit (I changed my HS/FANS to Accelero Mono PLUS's so no more throttling ever and never above 60c SLI, and so quiet even at the high RPM's I run on my AB profile)

use the GPUz sensor page to see accurate boost clocks. That boost box is wrong.

Can you run one card please? Have you edited the BIOS on your cards?

Looking at getting a 970 by the end of the week and wondered if anyone can advise if the difference in performance between the more expensensive 970 KFA2 GeForce GTX 970 "Hall of Fame Edition" and the cheaper Inno3D GeForce GTX 970 OC is worth the £75 difference?

looking to sell my 970s not even 3 months old , gonna pop them on ebay £425 /£450 pair should sell quick .... seems these cards cant really do 4gb without major issues in demanding games the card will limit at 3.5 if it does allocate higher then 3.5 you will experiance a major slow down in fps which is a issue for me as well as others see here :-

So wish i bought a 980 now , as seen in threads above it seems the 980 has no problems accessing its full 4gb vram where as in the same scenarios the 970 will only goto 3.5gb.

Yes that sucks, I think this is a major issue as more games require higher VRAM usage. Might sell my 970 G1, before big Maxwell cards are released.

My gut tellls me to jump ship now take a loss and grab a 980 , problem is this year we will have 8gb cards be gutted to buy 980 and then couple of months later a 8gb version or ti is released.

That is what I am doing, I got two G1’s in November but then found out I’m going to be spending most of the next year traveling. So decided to try and sell them now and buy something when I get back.

Nothing against the 970's, I was very happy with them for the 2 weeks I got to use them over Christmas, but in a years time I hope there will be an option for a single card that gives me what I want. And the 970's are certainly not without a few 'quirks' it seems.

Really wish I didn't sell my 7950 the other week as I would sell my G1 now I reckon and go back to it.

I've done reinstalls etc to get this thing working properly which its still not (usage/fps drops) and now I hear they don't use the full Vram.

Wont ever be buying new tech from the off again.

I wouldn’t worry too much, the 970 is one of the most popular cards right now (for good reason) so with that many sold you’re going to get a few bad cases, and people with issues are always going to make more noise than people who don't.

There are MANY people who are extremely happy with their 970’s and have little to no issues, I have no problems with mine, I’ve just ended up in the situation were I’ve spent £500+ on something I’m not going to get to use for a year, so I’d rather try and get the money back and then spend it on whatever’s new in 12 months’ time, otherwise I’d keep them.
