Nvidia GTX 980 Owners Thread

anyone with the KFA2 £399.99 GPU, can you post a pic please of the side of the card? Trying to see if it will look out of place etc, sat inside my blue and blue themed H440.

Cheers guys.

Thanks! What colour is that logo? My phone screen is pretty rubbish ha. And is it illuminated?

It's white and no it's not but there is a LED header on the PCB and the plate unscrews to allow a LED to be stuck behind it.

Edit: or a custome plate made :)

well had a good play about with Watchdogs (not the best game/nor optimised I know)

hopping around 50-100fps like crazy but perfectly playable, temps reaching around 75C max..... (1080p all ultra but AA on 2nd option). Running Afterburner I see its hitting the 1329 boost so all good there. For memory speed it is saying around 3505mhz - which I assume is fine and normal to be half the speed quoted? (been some time since I looked at cards)

Looks good. 3505 is correct.

any idea what the safe Max temp should be on these cards without doing any of our own manual overclocking? Just maxed out (but only 4 x AA and 4XAF) Assetto Corse - around 85 fps on my i5, though whilst gpu ram usage only around 2gb, the temp got to 80 on the card

The Max I've seen is 72 but I've setup a customs profile in AB. Can't hear the card with fan speeds up to 85%.

Got my reference gtx 980 asic 75.2% 1500/7900 stable. With 1.218-1.243v

Is it worth changing bios and go higher with voltage to get better clock?
Also is it worth to lower mem and go for bigger core?

advice please

If I were you, I'd settle with those clocks - which is what I've actually done. But, its up to you.

I've found that the Core becomes unstable from 1550 - 1570 but you may be okay. It appears to want more Volts but the gains a minimal, 1500 is a nice medium.

Edit: I need 1.25v for 1500/7900 but my ref volts is 1.2 as seen by AB.

Posted in another thread but perhaps more relevant here....

What I'm also pleased about is that unlike the 970...

....I can now fill the entire 4GB of memory....

with my KAF2/Galax 980GTX.

Still playing with both core and memory settings but also started to apply adaptive sync which also seems to keep the card running cooler, not used it as shown in the screenshot above otherwise it would be 60FPS.

why u went from 970sli to 980single? what res u playing? and also how about overclock? results?

Thanks!

The vram issue was becoming apparent on certain games and I game at 1440p and 1600p depending on game, I understand 4GB isn't future proofing myself and will be buying new cards when the Nvidia 8GB vram cards eventually come out. I've not tried Overclocking it yet but think I will give it a whirl over the next few days.

Playing some WH40K: Dark Crusade and it's so cold my 980 is hovering at 30'c while outputting 144FPS on air and it's downclocked itself to 900MHZ, Old game I know but still crazy XD

Which 980 card is considered the 'best', or are they all much of a muchness? I've been back and forth on this the past week, trying to figure out what to do with my 970, get another, get a 980 or go the AMD route. The latter poses issues with power and my case (an H440), so I am wary. So I'm looking again at these 980's, with a view to getting a single card. I don't think SLI is something I can justify though, but who knows in the future if they plummet in price. Wondering if the Reference would be the best move though still (I have the 970 Ref now), or if some of the other higher clocked cards would offer a performance edge?
