Nvidia GTX 980 Owners Thread

Well installed my gtx 980 gaming edition. Just tried Heaven for now and at stock out of the box it it matches my overclocked sli 670's! Runs so cool and quiet. Didn't even break 60 degrees and never got audible during Heaven.

What is everyones ASIC quality? Mine is only 72% :(. I swear I never get any golden cards. Will try some more overclocking tomorrow. What should be a gimme on the core and memory? Already had a small play and got it boosting to 1390mhz and + 100mhz on the memory.

Cant complain if it is a bad clocker. Got it for £299 (misprice which was honoured!)

Does this look ok?

That is with it boosting to 1380mhz and just a +100mhz bump on the memory (haven't tried anything higher yet)

I think I have to take into consideration that I am running a MSI P67A-GD53-B3 motherboard from 2011!

Hopefully I can get more out of it tomorrow.

So freaky how the fans work. They just don't run before it hits 60 degrees!

i wouldn't worry about the asic quality too much, if it clocks well what does it matter? somebody was saying their card had a 77% asic and would barely clock at all.

my 480 has an asic of 89% or something, will o/c from 700 to 830 on stock voltage, but hits an absolute wall at about 860 or so.

Both of mine are 74.7% ASIC, and from the 980 thread a lot seem to be around that ballpark so I wouldn't worry!

Scores seem good, Im sure you can push your oc higher if you want higher scores - have managed to reach 1550Mhz boost on mine in sli with reference coolers!

As others have said don't worry about ASIC, It's pretty meaningless, I have an ASIC of 72% same as you but can clock mine with boost to 1557 on the core and 8200 on the memory bench stable.

*EDIT*

This is the highest my 980 has ever benched with the Hitman benchmark, And again only 72% ASIC so you can safely ignore it :)

man that is a huge base clock. does it only boost to 1560 set like that?!? mine will boost to 1550 off a 1400 base clock, i think it would hard lock immediately if i set the base to 1460 lol.

Sweet. Just benched Heaven with no issues at 1475mhz core boost and +300mhz on the memory (so 7600mhz effective). Haven't pushed it further yet. At least it doesn't appear to be a complete stinker of a chip!

Amazing that even at these clocks the max temp I have seen is 62 degrees and the fans are inaudible.

Great cards these.

What have most people settled on as 24/7 clocks?

Wouldn't have though it was worth unless you want lower power draw and possibly lower temps. The 980 is only slightly faster than a 780Ti

Noted! Keep getting the upgrade itch but my case (cosmos 2 ultra) stops my EVGA 780 ti superclocks from going over 65C anyway and they are very quiet. I'll wait :)

Yeh, personally I wouldn't bother upgrading from 780 Ti's. I came from sli 670's and I am so impressed that this is faster than them, whilst running cooler, quitter and using less power in a single card solution (and 4gb vram compared with 2gb!)

does anybody with a g1 have the perfcap field in gpu-z sensors? i saw a guy on techpowerup complaining that he didn't have the field, and he had a 970 g1. i also don't have the field, and have a 980 g1. have driver re-installed, etc.

I have a 980 G1

GPU-Z does have a sensor called perfcap reason.
