Nvidia GTX295 Information

Just reading the Guru3D article.

Fallout 3 then. Initially NVIDIA would have had a pretty good advantage here, but the new Catalyst 8.12 drivers boosted overall X2 performance really significantly. As a result the performance is equal 100%, which was horribly bizarre to observe really, every framerate was the same, like a weird freak accident.

Wow, weird..

Shocked to see ATi haven't got Crossfire working properly in Dead Space :(

why the hate on nvidia? ati did exactly the same with the 3870x2. just to get back in game and ati fanboys fell for it. nvidia has the top mid range card ( 216 maxcore), the top single card (280) and soon the top x2 card. its better to wait for the 295 than for hotfixes :D .

Go look on bit-tech's latest review and say that again.

It shows that despite what a lot of people here think, that the GTX260+ blows away the 4870 1GB, it simply doesn't, and is generally the slowest out the bunch, with the 4870 1GB Matching and beating the GTX280 on a number of occasions. It also shows that the GTX260+ isn't on-par with the GTX280 as people seem to be peddling around lately.

Though, it could mainly be a case of the performance improvements of the Catalyst 8.12s.

The previews make it look like a giant brick. My case could always use a breeze block smack in the middle of it  Sorry to break away from the benchies conversation, I just thought I'd add that it looks horrifying, as do 280s for that matter

No, its YOU and It my honest opinion, I do not Troll or Flamebait.

(you only need to ask) :)

I know you do not like Nvidia so cannot understand why you spend so much time talking about them in Nvidia threads !

Do you ever see me in ATI Threads ? (I did enter 1, once).

What are you smoking? The fastest SINGLE card is the 4870x2, going by the looks of this card from the articles they probably won't be reclaiming any titles back anytime soon.

i might be smoking lots of weird stuff but at least i can tell the difference between a dual and single gpu card.

did we all check the same previews? i see the gtx295 clearly ahead of the 4870x2 in all the tested games except some 2560x benchies where its clearly a premature drivers issue.

I think the issue is that the previews might be massively different, some showing better, while other showing worse.

I'm not too impressed by what I've seen so far, but it is early days with possible room for improvement.

Good grief can't we have a civel conversation about new hardware anymore!?
He started it! *points*

:p

Hey, I'm only reacting to accusations of being a fanboy from a fanyboy. Good point though, no point in continuing bickering, I'll just blank anything else he says. :)

LOL!

I think the reviewers of PCtuning need to go back to graph school, that's almost the worst graph I've ever seen! That massive gap for a difference of 1FPS!

The information on the graph itself though, it's really suprising that there's such a little drop when going from 1920 to 2560.

Then again, that's average isn't it? The minium frames could possibly be much lower?

The difference is ultimately minimal and no point splashing out the estimated $500 for it. Maybe wait to see what will happen with camp red.

Well when you take in to account the fact that ATi can most probably lower the price by a fair chunk anyway, I'm sure there's not much competition for those looking for value for money. You'll obviously always get people who buy their favorite hardware whatever the price, but NV/ATi don't make the money from those people.

Man I have been reading a certain peeps posts in a few threads, he sure is talking a lot of fanboy nonsense lol :p

This is obvious trolling and in no way helping the situation. I suggest you calm down or I'm sure you'll find yourself suspended..again.

Also to the poster above, yes I'm sure ATi can lower the price without issue after all the X2 has been in production for some time now and the process will be refined by now I'd have thought, especially the 55nm yield. This gaffer tape job does not match up to the technological advances of two 55nm chips on ONE PCB. It's not enough of a step up to be worth it. I hope ATi make a move on prices as this will be the perfect counter to the gaffer tape job.

I really can't see what all the fuss is about tbh, so what if its not much faster than the x2, it doesn't have to be to take the speed crown back, and thats all it is for.

The focus has moved away from just the 'speed crown' though hasn't it, it's not just about who's fastest anymore, the difference is marginal at best and you'd do well to even notice the difference between 80 and 90fps, the difference is 10+/- most of the time apart from when Crossfire doesn't work. This product will be expensive and only die hard fanboys would pick it over a cheaper X2

More and people want better value for money these days when picking a high end product and ATi WILL offer this with price drops to make this 295 Gaffer Edition hardly worth it because they can do this as their process is more than refined and with this they can be flexible. I'd place my bottom dollar on it. :)
