Is 650w going to be enough for a Classified?

For one it will be close. 439w peak under load on stock, I'm not sure what else you have but you might be ok. They do have a high power draw. guru3d say 550w min to be fair so I'm sure it's ok.

Edit: Sorry that was system w not GPU use, you'll be fine.

I wonder how AMD will respond? The 290X isn't overpriced, it's just that we've now got lots of OC 780s with good quality custom cooling vs a single reference 290X with a fairly poor cooler.

If NVidia can charge £400 for a bigger/more expensive GPU and their superior Titan stock cooler then at £440 290X most definitely is overpriced.

What is it that makes the Classified better than the Lightning?

They bin the chips (the same as the Lightning) but for some reason and not sure why, the Classifieds are on top of the 780 bench runs. Maybe this will be a different story when water blocks are available but for now, Classy all the way.

Now all I need is someone to buy a couple 780's and flog me Batman... Don't make me pay full price for dat PhysX smoke guys

their is only one game I'm doing this for and that's BF4, same goes for the PS4 there isn't really anything other than killzone or BF4 that tickles my fancy.

i cancelled my ps4, pushed it back to next year feb and grabbing video cards now!

Had both the Classified and now the lightning, classy's had higher asics by 10% but the lightning's core, clocks higher, memory is pants though and the cooler is better than the classy's.

Going to go collect it shortly.

Also just got off the phone with CS who said that the Classy is using Hynix memory now....

Hearing a lot of different rumours, but time will tell.

Is Hynix regarded as good as Samsung?

Hynix is good memory. Samsung is pretty much the best but you won't notice the difference in honesty. Elpida is regarded as the worst.

the Lightning, but nothing in it really, totally down to personal preference, although most classy's seem to clock well and the lightnings can be hit and miss. Think thats due to them being binned for more extreme cooling

From my reading, both are binned chips and you are probably spot on with LN2 benchers and Lightnings. No two ways about it though, both are fantastic cards and I had so much fun with my 680 Lightnings and they are still in the top 50 of the 3DMark11 thread
