** NVIDIA PRICE DROP: GTX 780 & 770 MASSIVE PRICE DROP!! **

trying to decide on which card to go for 780 290x or keep my PS4 pre order.

their is only one game I'm doing this for and that's BF4, same goes for the PS4 there isn't really anything other than killzone or BF4 that tickles my fancy.

what would others do? get a new gfx card, stick with pc gamin and get BF4 for pc or get a PS4?

The R9 290 is being released this week too - the 31st of October IIRC. Also, remember BF4 is the launch title for AMD Mantle, although we have yet to see how much better performance will be once this is released but it could be useful. Having said that BF4 is an AMD sponsored title on top of this.

Oh god I caved and bought a Gigabyte one...

An overclocked one of this will be nearly as fast as my sli 670's right.....right!

:(:p

Yeah, in benchmarks single 780 can pull 670 SLI numbers, and in games that aren't so good in SLI, the 780 will actually be faster.

That Gigabyte 780 is very nice, good choice.

Hate to say this, but no...(unless we are counting games with poor scaling with SLI)

Even the 290x with the much higher memory bandwidth would be able to match SLI 670 in very specific memory intensive situtations such as in Metro, using SuperSampling or high res...

To be honest, my twin frozr 670's are great but to keep them around 70 degrees the fan noise is just too whiny and annoying. The windforce is supposed to be silent and it gives me more vram (not that I have found I need it), less power usage...and the opportunity to add another 780 in the future....

As you say in games that don't use sli or don't have very good scaling, the 780 will be a lot better.

After selling my 670's and the 3 games, it should cost me under £100 so not too shabby (I am finding everything possible to justify doing this!) Haha.

Which to be fair, is only one title. If you play Battlefield a lot, sure it might be worth it. It's released in December, so two months to wait for an unknown feature. Are there any other titles that might be having mantle in it that we know of?

Will you really add another GTX780 though?? Or would you just ditch it and get a Maxwell based card next year for around the same price??

He said he was getting the card for BF4. Regarding game support I expect it will be rolled out with EA and Activision games over the next year or two. Games using Frostbite 3 will be the first to have access to it.

Just saw sense and cancelled the order

Just not worth the hassle of selling my cards, spending ~£100 for slightly cooler running but worse performing card.

Bwaha I'm an idiot. I need to stop following this forum and watching pricedrops.

Caved in and just ordered the EVGA Classified:D

Promised my self that I wouldn't upgrade from my 580 until a 100% performance increase.

The Classified is just about there at a now decent price point:D

The free games are the icing on the cake.
