** NVIDIA PRICE DROP: GTX 780 & 770 MASSIVE PRICE DROP!! **

Yeah as you WC it's a no brainer to hop on whoever is first. I certainly wouldn't buy an AMD reference card though with a view to using it on air for too long!

At least the customs bring some normality back.

I was so tempted to send back this 1440P monitor and get a 290X, as I could have one or t'other but not both. I would have run the 290X on air as well but this isn't a serious option or a wise thing in honesty for me.

Yeah think I'll wait it out as well, if 780's hit £300 after game sales I might snap though and go SLI.

Not a bad shout and I wouldn't blame ya for sticking with the single 780. Seeing how they perform in modern games, even at 1440P, no reason to add another unless you MUST HAVE all details fully maxed.

Is 3GB considered enough VRAM for x1440? The thought of it not being is leaning me toward 290X.

I'm finding 2GB is not enough at 1080, so that's one reason for wanting to upgrade, but then I don't want to buy a 3GB card if I'll have the same problem. I'm likely to be upgrading monitors imminently.

All i do is sit on my rear end staring at a screen all day, what i wouldn't give to have to commute or something to separate work from home.

Do you have any links to work you have done? I see you are a web designer and wouldn't mind a look :)

Ohhh and I walk to work and will leave my house 5 mins before my shift starts :D

With the price drop and 3 games I want to play I can't resist the 780, simply can't wait for aftermarket 290X's.

I'm currently agonising over which to get, I'm looking for a card with good OC potential but not willing to spend over £430 including postage (this rules out the Classified and awesome-looking KFA2 HOF but I can't justify those prices). I know OC results are a lottery but there seem to be some trends caused by the various cooling solutions eg the Gainwards don't seem to achieve as high memory overclocks as the others.

Any recommendations? And are stock cards as likely to achieve the same overclocks as their factory OC brethren (again such as the Gainward Phantom and GLH editions)?

Only 5 left guys..... £419 and those games make this a great card.

Giz a job Gibbo :D

£1.39 over budget though but great cooling with the Twin Frozr.

Sorry for being thick, I can't find the answer anywhere.

Other than Batman, what are the other two free games with these cards? The 770 is looking VERY tempting!

Edit: Just found it. Damn, Black Flag and Splinter Cell. VERY tempting!

I have 2 of the MSI Gaming ed's and they are excellent cards. Both overclock to 1250mhz easily and for me they are super quiet as well

Really not worth it?

That's fine. My 670 is basically a 680 anyway (EVGA OC version, on a 680 PCB) so thank you for saving me a lot of money ;)
Not worth going from one GK104 to another with the same narrow 256-bit bus. IMO the GK104 has overstayed its welcome.

If I must go Nvidia, the GTX780 has to be the bare minimum. With AMD launching the 290 in a few days' time, it should shake up the market again quite a bit...and if we are luckly, we might see GTX780's price get slashed for another £40-£50, if the 290 really coming in at £350 or less.

No... it's negative hyperbole. They all want BF2 back, and when they don't get it they cry :D

There are some issues with it at the moment, but it's only just been released, it will get sorted.

Tried BF2 again a few weeks ago, I could not play it, i loved BF2 in its day, but why anyone would want that now is beyond me, weapon aim, hit detection ecte.... is just plain awful.
