NVIDIA RTX 3080Ti to launch in January 2021?

So what I'm understanding is.. and the scalpers well don't care too much about it as gamers are still after cards and they will loose the miners buying.

Well I hope it works and Nvidia don't "accidentally" release a way round it again. Then hopefully stops the miners but this will not stop the scalpers sadly.

Very much this, its focusing on one enemy and forgetting about the other enemy walking into the fort uncontested.

AMD cards can still mine and AMD has said explicitly that it's not going to "nerf" cards.

At best it will result in miners taxing the AMD stock over the Nvidia stock, which will just mean that there will then be more gamers competing for the remaining "nerf" cards.

Yeah but no one cares cause they are much slower, unless of course mining is properly killed off by Nvidia through some magic

The 6800xt has a better Eth has rate than anything besides the 3090, 3080 and Radeon 7. If you think this is somehow "much slower" then you're delusional, miners use other cards besides the 3080, believe it or not. Not only that, but as the TDP of the 6800xt is much lower than the 3080.

Point being miners are using and benefiting significantly from cards like the 6800xt.

Strange, but pups have thought the amd cards would be priced higher then

as of this moment, my local store has 6900ct stock and its half the price of the 3090, why aren't miners buying it

I could certainly understand not wanting to use the RX 6900XT, given the higher price, although assume all of the mid and upper mid range AMD cards will become increasingly scarce if Nvidia build in effective anti-mining technology into the hardware of upcoming GPU's.

So what I'm understanding is all future 3000 series cards put on the market will have the mining nerf from 3060, 3060ti, 3070, 3080, 3080 ti and 3090 and be on a revised chip to stop people getting round the restrictions and all on the market now will remain as they are. So basically a new SKU and hardware, so that means miners will want to buy the old stock and that will make them go threw the roof and the scalpers well don't care too much about it as gamers are still after cards and they will loose the miners buying.

Well I hope it works and Nvidia don't "accidentally" release a way round it again. Then hopefully stops the miners but this will not stop the scalpers sadly unless there is more supply of cards to keep the prices normal and makes scalping a waste of time. Anyways lets see what will happen and I know Nvidia is doing this now to clear the stocks of mining cards they thought they could sell that are probably sitting in storage as most miners want the gaming cards so they can sell them on later when mining is not worth doing.

New 3080s may already be out, peeps have reported in FE thread new bios version.

MSI, the scalping company......oh we didn't know anything about a subsidiary company, that we own, having stock of our stock Nvidia 3000 series cards and selling them at 2-3 times our recommended price....honest we didn't know they were doing that!? Really!

Shifty ******** to say the least.

I do wonder who is paying crazy scalper prices, and if miners are a big proportion of the buyers because they are happy to "earn" back the difference in price.

If they block miners then will they simultaneously impact scalpers?

Have you not been reading any threads? Plenty of normal people are paying scalper prices, because the market has just got worse and worse. Hell, the current sale prices at online stores ARE the previous scalper prices.

People are paying £2400+ from OCUK for a 3090.

I get that but I really wonder why they are so mad! Lol. I mean paying four times more than the rrp for a card kinda indicates to me that they have more money than sense. The shortage just seems to have boosted and already crazy hype for the 3000 series cards.

It's a worldwide pandemic that has lasted over a year where people are spending ridiculous amounts of time cooped at home. It's understandable (even if you don't agree with doing it) that some people are literally getting so desperate to have what they want in order to keep themselves sane/happy/occupied during all of this time that they will pay these crazy markups.

I don't think it's understandable at all, lol. I have spent the same year indoors and I don't feel even the slightest bit inclined to spend over £1000 on a card. It's not that I don't have the money, it's not that I don't have the need, it's entirely down to the fact that I am not about to allow the desperation ( and I do feel that ) to get to me! I know full well in a few years when the next generation comes out that I would regret spending so much on a card that has an rrp that is way less. I mean I really do think that people are just being somewhat hysterical here.
