Then there's almostv every generation *before* Turing that offered the kind of price/performance seen with the FE 3070 and 3080.

I get that the pandemic and mining have jacked up the market, but when you use anything other than Turing as the reference, reasonable price performance is the norm.

I expect the 3080Ti to be overpriced because demand is way higher than supply....not because Turing was so terrible.

Agreed,and it seems gamers with their fickle memories have already forgotten how general progression should be. The Turing price bump has worked wonders! :(

Oh there will be people paying that for them just not you, you'll be paying £1100-£1300 minimum from the scalpers who actually purchased them.

No they wont. Even if the list price is £850-£1100, good luck ever seeing that in the shops. Apart from launch day I havent seen retailers selling any 3080 or 3090 at list prices. I once saw Asus has some Asus strix OC 3090 at £1495 list price but they sold out within minutes.

If Nvidia set the list price to be £1000, i expect most shops will sell them for £1200 (or more)/
 
The last HW News video on Gamers Nexus said that NVIDIA might have been starting to produce silicon for a 3080 Ti but stopped due to the current supply issues to concentrate on shipping what they have already announced. So it looks extremely unlikely a 3080 Ti will turn up any time soon and a 20GB version might be dead full-stop.

Probably get an announcement soon if theyve already made them. Ive been holding out for the ti since the 30 series announcment last year.

AMD cards can still mine and AMD has said explicitly that it's not going to "nerf" cards.

At best it will result in miners taxing the AMD stock over the Nvidia stock, which will just mean that there will then be more gamers competing for the remaining "nerf" cards.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti in May
According to ITHome, NVIDIA has issued an internal update on RTX 3080 Ti.



The site reports that GeForce RTX 3080 Ti which was previously expected to launch in mid-April, has now shifted to mid-May. We received a similar update on Monday, but we were not yet able to verify this information with other sources just yet. Apparently, this information is already known in Asia:

NVIDIA internally issued a new announcement that the release time of the next-generation RTX30 series model. The RTX 3080Ti 12G has been delayed again, and it is now expected to be released around mid-May.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti was originally planned to launch in mid-April. The report from ITHome suggests that there is a delay of another month, a fifth delay for the ‘new 3080’ to be precise. The original model called RTX 3080 20GB was scheduled to launch in December, but NVIDIA has dropped its plans just two weeks in advance. NVIDIA has then scheduled RTX 3080 Ti 16GB to launch in January, but the plans have eventually shifted to February. Since then the SKU has received new specs, reduced CUDA core to 10240, and memory downgrade to 12GB. The final and so far the latest update is that RTX 3080 Ti would launch in May.

NVIDIA has now two cards scheduled to launch in May: RTX 3080 Ti 12GB and RTX 3070 Ti 8GB. It is unclear if the manufacturer has plans to make some kind of a special announcement. Does anyone still remember ‘it’s almost TIme’ GTX 1080 Ti teaser?. Well, a special event for these two cards would definitely seem appropriate, considering they are to represent very popular market segments.

Next month NVIDIA will have its Graphics Technology Conference (GTC 2021), where its CEO Jensen Huang will deliver a keynote. Historically speaking NVIDIA does not unveil client products such as GeForce at GTC. With RTX 3080 Ti being delayed again, one should not expect any updates on this SKU at the conference.

MSI, the scalping company......oh we didn't know anything about a subsidiary company, that we own, having stock of our stock Nvidia 3000 series cards and selling them at 2-3 times our recommended price....honest we didn't know they were doing that!? Really!
 
So what I'm understanding is all future 3000 series cards put on the market will have the mining nerf from 3060, 3060ti, 3070, 3080, 3080 ti and 3090 and be on a revised chip to stop people getting round the restrictions and all on the market now will remain as they are. So basically a new SKU and hardware, so that means miners will want to buy the old stock and that will make them go threw the roof and the scalpers well don't care too much about it as gamers are still after cards and they will loose the miners buying.

Well I hope it works and Nvidia don't "accidentally" release a way round it again. Then hopefully stops the miners but this will not stop the scalpers sadly unless there is more supply of cards to keep the prices normal and makes scalping a waste of time. Anyways lets see what will happen and I know Nvidia is doing this now to clear the stocks of mining cards they thought they could sell that are probably sitting in storage as most miners want the gaming cards so they can sell them on later when mining is not worth doing.

yes exactly... MSI are really showing their true colours more and more in recent days and the past with their silly ways and customer support that is basically to ignore their customers or send them round in circles from retailer to back them.

Is there no MSI Rep on these forums to explain why there is so many issues that are happening and what they are going to do about it in the future ? Yes the press release blaa blaa is just that and talk is cheap and people on every forum are complaining about MSI for a hundred reasons everyday.
