NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - OFFICIAL PRE-ORDER THREAD!

Some of them I installed. Some were left in the box like zotac 4080. MSI 4070ti. 2 4090 strix they were all iirc I never opened. But I already another set which I opened. My friend from here laughed at me the other day as he was surprised I keep spares of the spares. I am a bit of a hoarder. 5 PSU. 8 keyboards. 5 or 6 sets of ddr5 memory. 4 32 inch mini led 4k monitors. The list goes on

And as crazy as it sounds I am trying to break out of it.
Wow! That's awesome! You must be a millionaire. Lol

I reckon there has to be a drop off in demand at some level, probably £2300, there won’t be many takers above that.
You say that but I remember during the launch of 4090, the basic models were going for 1800-1850, the OC models around 1900, the top tier were like 2100 - 2300 (Aorus Elite, Suprim etc.) and then finally the Asus holy moly strix tax was close to £2400 if I remember, it was insane but they still sold out, so I reckon it won't be any different this time around

Not at all. I just have different priorities to a majority of people and I have experienced the flip side where you want to upgrade but funds or existing obligations prevent you from doing so. So I don't want people to think I don't know about their struggles I do. I remember working in a poorly paid job and I saved up like a year and a bit just so I could build a 2600k setup.

Thats when CPU/platform upgrades seem so much more from the previous gen.

It was pure chaos and NGL I loved it.

There are crazier things people spend thier hard earned on, but its all a matter of perspective

I think if they stay at or below £2500 they will sell out very quickly, above that people will certainly think twice imo, can't see many people going as high as £3k when a Founders Edition is sub £2k, unless they are scalpers of course, but then again scalping thankfully seems to be a lot less successful nowadays than it was during Covid times.
I remember people buying up X3d CPUs, 4080 Supers and even PS5 Pros and listing them on ebay for twice the price and the majority of them were still there weeks and months later.
I think the madness of 2020/21 is way behind us now, of course demand is still there but I don't think we'll be seeing 6 month waiting lists for a £2500+ GPU in this current climate anytime soon lol.
Performance benchmarks will also be a big factor, 4090 reviews were insane as it was a big jump from Ampere but if the rumours are true and pure raster performance isn't such a huge jump this time around then it might not be as popular as people think

So about just over 3 months ago I moved back to my home town. And so I was aware that the 5090 was due out in January so I started systematically selling off my 4xxx series cards. My collection consisted of 3 4080, 2x4070ti, 3 4070ti super and 15 4090.

And before anyone asks I am not a scalper. I have never sold any graphics card in the past 20 years for more than what I paid for it whether I got it from here, eBay, or bought brand new.

I have a GPU collection addiction not shafting people who can't get hold of one for a more reasonable price I am not about that life.

Safe to say after selling that lot off I don't have to pull any of my own money out to get the 5090's. I did the same for the 3xxx series as well at one point I had over 22 3xxx series cards and were 14 3080 ti, 2 3090 TI's, 3 3070, 2 3060, 3060 ti, 3 3070 tis. Funnily enough I never had the 3080 or 3090 as I thought they were terrible value...go figure
Do you sell them before they lose value? Or are they collected and then the majority are kept? As you say you are a bit of a hoarder which generally would mean its kept but you also say you sell them :)

I distinctly remember how we had prices available a month before hand at reasonable MSRP prices and slowly but surely all the retailers started jacking up the prices by hundreds the closer we got to release  OCUK have thankfully not done that this time around, they're just gonna give it to us raw on the day lmao

Certain things I hoarde. But graphics cards I keep until the next major generation I want to repeat the process but this time is different I feel as there are only 3 cards I am interested in. The astral , the lightning version of the suprim x (kinda on the fence with this one)and aorus master ice. I have no interest in the other manuafacturers or sku. Bare minimum is 2 and 3 ideally where I can build a dedicated test bench for the third and to satisfy my tinkering needs.

I was considering getting a AIB one over a FE since they might be easier to get, but at £2500 thats a tough sell. Even the FE price feels quite a lot with its performance levels versus a 4090, but I need a new card and the 4090 prices don't feel that worth it.

How about a used 4090 lot cheaper than new and better value against the new 5090

Guys, could you tell me if I add GPU to my basket let's say at 2pm this GPU will be locked for me for 15 minutes in my basket or whoever made payment first will get it? Thank you.

Some more prices - obviously take these with a pinch of salt but there is some variance in them so might be indicative of something, I'm just not sure what. I can see some of the higher end 5080s being around the lower end of this price point but I doubt we'll actually see 5080s for £1799.99 (hope I'm not wrong about that!).

MSI NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 16GB GAMING TRIO OC WHITE - £1559.99
MSI NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 16GB VANGUARD SOC LAUNCH EDITION - £1559.99
MSI NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 16GB VENTUS 3X OC - £1559.99
MSI NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 16GB GAMING TRIO OC - £1679.99
MSI NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 16GB SUPRIM LIQUID SOC - £1799.99
MSI NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 16GB SUPRIM SOC - £1799.99
PALIT NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 16GB GAMING PRO - £1799.99

PNY NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 32GB ARGB Overclocked Triple Fan - £2758.99

Some are clearly pretty weird and likely incorrect (like the GAMING TRIO OC WHITE being significantly cheaper than the GAMING TRIO OC).
