NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - OFFICIAL PRE-ORDER THREAD!

Yea, this gen the naming doesn't match the performance...

In the plast, '70 cards could match the top from the previous gen, but now '70 cards are only that by name. By performance '70 cards are actually '60 cards and there is no way a '60 card will match a '90 card.
Add to this the massive gap between '80 and '90 performance which also wasn't a thing until this generation
they say 5090 is only for extreme tech enthusiasts but they are pushing gamers including myself towards it for sure.

I know @Gibbo sometimes shares a link for forum members to pre-order a few mins before 2pm, does anyone have any more detail on how that works?

Does he normally create a new thread in the GPU forum, post it in this pre-order thread a few minutes before 2pm, or something else? Also, do you have to have a certain amount of posts under your belt to see it? Whislt I've been buying HW from Overclockers for years, I've really only ever been a forum lurker, so only recently registered (lesson learnt from the 9800X3D launch lol)

Yes for sure. Basically you join the discord and you will be redirected to google maps. You drive there to some off the road parking area and you will see a group of cars formed around in a circle with the headlights on as the links are only given out at nighttime for some bizarre reason. Then there is some sort of bizarre raffle where everyone chuck their keys in a bowl.

You climb into the person car or they climb into yours. You emerge with a funny limp but at least you get the preorder link. Mission accomplished.

Thanks, I've taken notes. Does it happen in Cardiff normally?... :D

Cardiff, Illinois this year. Apparently, they have a fantastic number of condemned factories to do the trade in.
this reminds of the time I was a member of large mobile gaming group on discord and when the newcomers came to sign up I told it was a front for a swingers group in Texas. Funny thing was we had the swingers/ hotwife people sign up asking for the next meeting place. The site owner was not with with happy with me…lulz.

But back on topic I don’t recall ever getting a preorder a few minutes before the official launch time of the 4090. All I remember logging on and the website was incredibly slow.

Awe jeez, that's rotten. But not unexpected.

4090 is 23% faster than 4080 in timespy benchmark.

So 15% improvement means it's 8% short of a 4090. Probably will equal it in some games, not in others..

But 8% short in performance for 33% less money would be an improvement in terms of performance per unit price.

Yeah these early leaks aren't looking too rosey are they? Let's just hope they are underestimating the performance a bit. Have a 4090 currently, was looking at getting 5090 but if the gains are mostly in DLSS and 4X Frame Gen then I think I might sit it out and wait for the next gen.
On the plus side anyone upgrading from 20 or 30 series will find them much easier to buy if the reviews aren't all that impressive, so that's a bonus I guess lol

Yep a 100% performance jump for me from a 3090

Without a node shrink, it was always going to be an uphill climb. It definitely feels like a 'tock' iteration instead of a new generation.

Or maybe Nvidia are riding the ai bubble and gaming cards are on the back burner, I mean they could have gave us a proper 5080 for just a grand lol, a 5070 with more than 12gb. No, they throw in their 4x fake frames that just happens can't run on ada gpu. Seriously **** Nvidia.

Interested @ the gamerock being 2099.99, 160 above an FE for which I believe is their flagship model? Have a 3080 gamerock which has been rock solid for about 2 years. Not familiar with Palit support however. Would be interested in seeing what Palit price their gamingpro model at then. Must be quite close to the FE MSRP
