NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

If you find a video of someone demonstrating it, or confirm that yours works properly hit me up. Afterburner won't even let me set it below 30% and I've seen numerous posts complaining about it.

If I can solve that it would bump it up to a 7/10 :p
Ill check when I get home.

I swear I saw mine idling at 55 deg C with a fan stop but I may be mistaken.

Yeah using the one from 3 days ago

Hmm only think I can suggest would be to do a ‘proper undervolt’ using the voltage curve, but I expect you’ve already done that.

If not, this is a good instructional vid for a 4090 undervolt but you’d have to play around with the numbers etc to adapt for the 50 series, might require some playing around:

Hope you get it sorted, or if you return and go for an AIB that this solves it for you :)

Ooooh, my queue position at the Other Place just came down a couple of places in the last hour, from 37 to 35 (Palit Gamerock 5090). Either they actually shipped a couple of cards, or there were a couple of cancellations in rapid succession.

Probably the latter.

Mine fully stops.

I've not touched the voltage curve yet, just the power limit/OC sliders in AB (which change the curve anyway)

Mine fully stops.
Interesting. Any chance you can grab me a screenshot of the GPU-Z sensors tab at some point when they're stopped?

I stop going with reference/FE models, the AIB experience is so much better, worth it for a few bucks more, but not scalped pricing haha.

To add to your comment - I don’t think I’ve ever seen FE models be cooler or quieter than AIBs, I feel like the only advantage they have is looks/style.

Like yourself I’d rather pay a few bucks more for between 5 and 10 less decibels.

Ah, it is worth a go then - it won’t change the curve in quite the same way. I recommend watching the vid and then playing around with Heaven running, exactly as he does. Heaven will just crash if you go too far, no biggy.

The fans not stopping suggests that drivers might be awry, but that’s probably not going to be impacting the electrical noise.

According to Tech Power Up the Suprim was over 10db quieter than the FE, Palit and Astral at load, which is ‘half as loud’ - pretty significant IMO.

Exactly - especially essential for those who have openback headphones.

After that the only issue is coil whine which seems to have simply become an industry norm these days.

Yeah it's 5080FE but I doubt there are differences?

I'd give the FE a 5/10 right now.

Drivers are flaky, they had a hissy fit for some reason and decided to stop the card from boosting and would only start again after a DDU reinstall. Seen it happen to a couple of other people as well.

No fan stop on the FE, lowest the fans go is 30%/1200RPM so sat there at idle whirring away. Pretty bad coil whine which I've mostly solved with an undervolt.

Going to give it another week or so before deciding to either return it and put my nice quiet 4090 back in, or put up with it until I can get a decently priced AIB model.

5090 FE has fan stop in the reviews, sounds like you have a faulty card to me.

See above graph from linked article. Shows 0 RPM for fans at idle.

Thanks for that. Strange. Mine's at 29C and still whirring away at 1200rpm

Quite possibly, although with all the different issues with the drivers going around I'm more inclined to blame those currently.

Like I said, it's not just me with the same issues

I'm waiting paitently for the 5090FE to come back into stock. It's the only 5090 that will fit into the case I'm going to be building in. Just hope that nVidia don't jack up the price even more, but it is what it is.

also i heard certian drivers are bricking 50 series cards, thats worse than the 4090 power cable burn issue

Come to think of it… how does warranty work with scalpers… oh boy… eBay claims haha.

If the card becomes faulty within the 30 days the seller has to take the product back.
Otherwise, you will have to go through Nvidia or seller - As the other retailer won't take them back if their name isn't on the order.
