Yeh it's been single digits for the last few days. I don't mind people throwing in the towel though, I hope more do :D

If they turned round and stated they are only expecting 10 MSI cards, 15 Gigabyte and 5 Zotec for February - There would be hundreds cancelling pre-orders.

I worked out if there is about 100 people per queue, for 15 different cards with the average price being around £2400 they are sitting on £3.6 million pounds of pre-order money which they are probably earning around £150,000 a year in interest or £410 a day, which isn't to be sniffed at - So over Feb alone they will be earning £11.5k interest on pre-order payments.

Nah, they definitely have done in the past. I remember both the competitor and OCUK doing it for the 30 series which had insane queues like the 5090 currently does. The competitor was putting them up on a page like they're doing now, meanwhile Gibbo here was doing routine posts explaining what stock was coming in, and if the queue had been cleared, even offering the opportunity for people to swap to that available card if they want.

The fact is people also cancel if they're getting no updates or progress on where they are in a queue.

If it was challenged legally you would almost certainly lose and they would win. It doesn't really matter if the T&Cs don't explicitly allow them to increase the price because what they do allow them to do is cancel the order if their supplier(s) is/are unable to provide the items. Assuming they aren't lying at that point about their supplier increasing their price, then it would be quite easy for them to argue that the suppliers cannot provide the item at the cost expected and so the order is cancelled. They are just choosing to let you not have your order cancelled in exchange for more money.

Their T&Cs also explicitly do not bind them to delivering the item just because payment has been made (almost no online retailer will have T&Cs binding them to this), they simply say they won't be bound until some time after payment has been made. Not only that, even if they were bound to delivery the item, and were in breach of contract by not doing so, all they have to do is make you whole (which is a refund that they would do anyway) and they are not liable for any other costs that may cause you (this is stated in their T&Cs anyway but also a court would not find that damage relevant).

To be clear, I don't like that these prices could go up and I think they should be locked in for people already in the queue (I'm one of those people), but the most a retailer is going to get from doing this is a bit of bad press.

The pre-order price I paid for the Suprim was £2,599 so that’s 34% or £660 more than the FE. Which is still a lot of money!

But yes, that’s overall noise and there is by all accounts also less ‘electrical noise’ (coil whine). Unfortunately I’m quite intolerant of noisy electrics so for me, personally, that is worth it but I’m not on a strict budget

MSI cards have the fastest turnaround, bigger numbers than Asus and PNY, plus watch more than 50% of the pre-orders request their money back, also most people manage to end up buying from random drops
 
lots of real pro PC builders here I think, so I will ask a question,

I have this PSU : https://www.overclockers.co.uk/be-q...-platinum-modular-power-supply-ca-13z-bq.html

Which is not ATX3 but it runs my 4090, and no issues for 2+ years now with beQuiet 12VHPWR, now my question is do I need to change PSU to ATX3 or ATX 3.1 for 5090 or will this suffice ?
Tried to find any answers online, but nothing specific.
Anyone runs their 5090 on non-ATX3+ PSU ?

I have a preorder of Zotac Solic OC 5090 from OcUK, just want to be 100% ready for it :)

The raw power output is fine, its support for power excursions that you need to be on the lookout for. Worst case you might trip OCP.
