NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

You need to question your life choices when you are happy to hand over up to £3K now for a GPU that may arrive at 'some' distant point in the future. The stock is clearly not available, gamers are NOT NVIDIAs priority, and the 5080 is laughable in terms of some of the prices being 'offered'.

What a sad state of affairs, and FOMO is enabling this continued behaviour from a multi-trillion supplier who must be laughing their ******* off. Get a grip.
my justification is because my 4090 is worth so much on the 2nd hand market the difference between paying for a 5090 and selling my 4090 is minimal. if I had to buy a 5090 outright i wouldn't do it.

This is exactly the same as the last two launches! They (manufacturers, NOT retailers) whip everyone up to create a feeding frenzy and then drop the bombshell that steady supply is 3 - 4 months away. This only serves to benefit unscrupulous scalpers looking to profit from people who aren’t patient enough to wait. I’m not getting involved this time. Will sit back and wait until everyone has stock and the prices settle down. My 4090 is good enough for me atm.

It is all quite desperate and we need AMD to make a competing halo product asap

The craziest part, apart from the lack of innovation and improvement is the lack of good games to use these cards for

I have a 4070tiS now which is absolutely all the card I need but I still want a 5090

Just to clarify - this thread is for discussion of Preorders/Orders, what you bought etc

For any technical or general discussion on the RTX 50 Series, please use the other thread

Note that all rules relating to competitors need to be adhered to, including but not limited to price hinting, linking, and any anti-OcUK sentiment will not be tolerated.

Position 6 for the Zotac Solid 5080 on another site. Currently estimated for end of March but I think this will come down fairly quickly.
I am at 47 with an estimated end of March… So I hope their 1st restock batch has large number of cards to fulfill a load of preorders.

twice now I had a gigabyte gaming 5080 in a basket ready to buy but forced myself to hold off as I know it is FOMO thats making me buy it.

I think the 5080 FE is a fair price for someone who is upgrading from 970/4060 but 1200+ is too much. Right now i might get a 5080 FE or just hold out for a secondhand 4070 super ti/4080 until the 5080 super comes out or even the 6000 series if the 4070 super ti does a reasonable job.

I don't think the 5080 will be in huge demand after the FOMO wears off as i cant see many 4080 owners making the move cause i know i wouldn't.

I see a few have gone for MSI for there 5090 - didn't MSI delay there own launch until the 6th feb? Or was that for USA only?
Difficult to say. The worst time anyone should be releasing any kind of product which is in high demand especially dedicated graphics is just before or during the Chinese new year. Everything shuts down in China and Taiwan for 2 weeks full stop. Now if there is stock in the UK then I can see the first few orders being fulfilled until inventory is exhausted. Then it a case of waiting for production to ramp up when the come back from their holidays.

Position 27 for MSI Trio 5090 on the other site, order confirmation came in 15:40.

Also 'awaiting despatch date'

Position 16 for me wooohooo. Aorus Master. Didn’t give up refreshing and rechecking after similar thing happened during 9800X3D launch where preorders went up later in the afternoon. But my job got seriously neglected yesterday afternoon as a result and playing catch up all today :D

Sounds a nightmare. I've learnt that you have to order all components in separate orders if there are any that are pre-order or out of stock, as like you said the whole order will get held up otherwise.

Though appreciate this is not possible if going for a custom system!

Fingers crossed you can get through to someone on the phone, as I'm sure retailers get a 5090/5080 allocation dedicated for SI (system integration).
I’ve tried phoning again and have been told quite abruptly that there is no way of doing it over the phone.

I’ve just got a quote from their direct competitor within an hour without any issues.

I think the overall customer service and the way they do things is shocking, and I’ve spent thousands here over the years.

It’s as if they don’t want your business.

Fair enough :)
