So they’re all ripping each other off, then just passing it on to the customers, starting at the top of the chain with Nvidia.

I briefly mentioned this in the Radeon 9070 thread, but I'll stick my neck out and say it here...

Given the poor reviews/reception, I can see the 5080 sales rate being pretty mediocre once stock stabilizes... IF AMD can deliver a compelling card that sits between the 5070 Ti and 5080 and squeezes them both.

In that scenario, I'd bet we'll see a 5080 Super with 24GB RAM and +20% more cores (i.e., heavily cut down GB202) at around $1,200 within 6-9 months.


[Edit] And the "so what" for me, is that I'd be interested in a 5080 series card, but no way is that going to be the current vanilla card at $1,000!

Looks like quite a few of these have actually sold - I hope it's actually bots that have been screwed and not innocents that have overlooked the description. I wonder if there would be any comeback. Feels like the wild west, no way I would feel comfortable selling or buying one of these cards on there.

Edit: Looked into it and it's pointless. Happened with the PS5 and it's against their policy so it isn't going to hurt scalpers, they'll just get refunded. I also suspect most of the people buying them are desperate innocents and not even bots in the first place.

Where I am they have to either:

1) Fix my 4090

If they cannot fix it then :

2) Replace it with a new 4090

If they cannot replace it then:

3) They issue a refund for the purchase price




So I'm either going to get a 4090 back or I will get my money back, they will never give me a weaker GPU

All the performance of all of the cards will be in within a few % of one another (Likely <2-3%). The only thing you are getting different between them is aesthetics, temps and noise.
