NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - Technical/General Discussion

I admire Hardware Unboxed channel's willingness to post in depth on this, exposing why the 5080 is actually a 5070 in all but name, and also an in depth discussion on overpricing. Good on them

Yep. They just mess around with naming charge you silly moneys for it.

It is half of a 5090 for go sakes. No way does it deserve the 5080 naming. But if they name it a 5070 and want $1000 people would lose their minds. They would get a lot less sales and have a lot more bad press than they are now.

Steve , nail = head

That and NV are again throwing everything at AI and sod retail
"We saw the 5080 pop up in a few places, but lets be real, nobody wants that"
Boy spitting facts... yet somehow retailers are selling 1800 5080s and they sold out.
I hope it was scalpers who thought they struck gold lmao.

The face people in this very thread are excited they paid 1300-1500 for a 5080 just saddens me.
They could buy a 4080 super for a grand right now and get almost the exact same performance.

I'm one of the idiots who bought a 5080 in that price range and have no regrets whatsoever.

In most benchmarks, the card I bought has performance much closer to a 4090 than a 4080 Super... and considering you can't even buy a 4090 second hand for less than I paid for my brand new 5080 I think I am pretty happy with that.

I mean that cooler for that now has superglue'd fan mounts attached and I've thrown glue all over the PCB ... not sure I'll by able to command a premium price now :D

Yeah, but it has 24GB VRAM which I hear is very important. You will be able to command a premium for that.

So say tree fiddy? :p

Remember the screen shot I sent here 2 days ago?

Basically every single 80 series card has beaten the previous gen flagship, until now...
