My Zotac 4090 Extreme Airo from around launch, connected to a Corsair AX1600i PSU using a 4x 8 pin (only 3 cables connected since launch) to 12VHPWR CableMod extension type cable. I have checked my cable with a thermal camera and it's running pretty cool, pretty much the same as when I installed it.

Just checked, two year old Corsair cable that's never been removed from the 4090, showing 11.97v at full load

Here is mine running Furmark, so worst case scenario as games don't hit anywhere as hard as this:

That is using the 2x 8-pin to 12VHPWR Corsair cable (HX1000i).

I wanted to upgrade to a 5070 ti not just for gaming but also to improve video editing over my 3070 ti. The issue I now have is the stupid pricing and all these, potentia, issues. I shall keep an eye on all this but I wonder what AMD are going to do pricing wise if the performance is there. I guess it’s theirs to screw up but I expect they will.

I thought the issue was too many amps going through 1 or 2 cables causing overheating, rather than the total voltage? Folk on here will know better than me...

They are reviewing whether the voltage is reading correctly - something that looks awry (i.e. not close to 12v) might indicate long term cable degradation.

Can you expand? What do you mean by shocking?
Well

- you have to return it to Poland, which means customs forms and risk of it getting lost.

- many people experienced 6 month turnarounds and in the end they either got a card that didn't work or was in worse condition than they sent it in

- they fob you off to the retailer and won't deal with you directly, but retailers don't have a legal obligation to help out with the manufacturer warranty.

Not worth it

Oh wow, all UK cards go to Poland for RMA? Jeez.

Glad my 3080 Gaming X Trio didn't break now. Do any AIBs have UK repair centres that you know of?

Yep. All msi graphics cards to poland.

The best is zotac. 5 year warranty. UK returns in bracknell and 7 day turnaround. Going to have to try and get one. Who would have thought that the cheaper cards had best service?

Akh Brexit the gift that keeps on giving. I reckon due to us not being in the EU anymore not only is there the customs matter you pointed out but we are probably getting less drops than we would’ve otherwise. Why allocate to a small market when you have a market next door 5x larger than ours.

Yeah MSI are atrocious to deal with if you need to RMA.

I sent a 2070 I think it was off twice, with them returning it stating it had been fixed and it wasn’t. Very expensive postage as well.
