NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - Technical/General Discussion

I didn't even bother checking if OCUK had other style options lol. Just cycled through them all, think I prefer classic blue over dark style. Note: Light V2 was awful lol.
Thanks for the heads up, ill not bother trying v2 then lol

Akh Brexit the gift that keeps on giving. I reckon due to us not being in the EU anymore not only is there the customs matter you pointed out but we are probably getting less drops than we would’ve otherwise. Why allocate to a small market when you have a market next door 5x larger than ours.
Just because we left the EU it doesn't mean the UK market is any smaller. I suspect the UK, Germany and France are by far the biggest GPU markets in Europe. These GPUs are coming from outside the EU anyway, so it's not as if they were ever being shipped and manufactured within the customs union. People like to **** on Brexit, but i don't think it has a significant role in this mess at all. It is 100% on Nvidia.

I feel physically sick holding onto this 5090 msi. Have 1 week to decide before it goes back for a refund.
No consumer electronics product is worth worrying about that much. Return it and stick to your old card or wait for another 5090 if you can. These things are to enjoy not worry about.

The assistance from the retailer will be them giving the manufacturers number. That's all they need to do.
You're very wrong here, please do some research before making a decision. You have a contract with the retailer. Yes, many retailers will try and fob you off with the manufacturer first but legally they are required to rectify the situation. There was a massive discussion (that went way OT) on this very forum the other day.

Trading standards:
something’s gone wrong after the first 6 months and you want a repair or replacement - it’s tricky to do this as you may have to prove you didn’t cause the problem

Yeah no thanks

Yep. All msi graphics cards to poland.

The best is zotac. 5 year warranty. UK returns in bracknell and 7 day turnaround. Going to have to try and get one. Who would have thought that the cheaper cards had best service?
I had a Zotac 1080Ti and they were really great with the RMA. 5 year warranty is great, I bought the MSI 5070Ti but after reading these comments about MSI RMA support I'm thinking did I mess up not buying the Zotac lol

At risk of going off topic, it's about markets and ease of distribution. 27 countries is a FAR bigger market than the UK and that was the point he was making. Smaller countries like the Netherlands and Luxembourg are much more lucrative than here due to their higher living standards. Add to that the reduced hassle in distribution to the 27, it's entirely feasible that we've seen less inventory coming our way.

And all of that not forgetting that while we were in the EU, we could also purchase cards from there without any hassle. Not something I would do, but plenty did.

Back on topic, those who are like 65th in a queue have a bit of an advantage over someone at say 10th. They can wait a bit to see if current launch issues get rectified, although the mere fact we're even talking about them is bizarre to say the least.

Mate if you can return it and wait and get a zotac. Do it.

@Absolutely Clueless/ @ProStreet
there is always a little risk with warranty, but how it is dealt with may depend on where you purchased it from. Info available online may also be a little outdated.

One retailer notes that the card is subject to a ‘3 year return to base warranty’ and they provide themselves as the point of contact for the exercising the warranty. Being curious on the point, I see that their sales terms state that any manufacturer’s warranty will be in accordance with the information provided by the manufacturer. There’s enough uncertainty on this - if you’re asked to send the card to Poland / incur costs and additional risks in doing so - that there’s probably enough scope here for a bit of a ‘legal whinging’ if things go pear shaped. But the time / effort of a whinge might be more faff than just getting on with the RMA. It’s not in MSI’s interest to give consumers a dreadful customer experience.

If it’s the card you want, whatever the RMA process is will just be something you have to accept (or not), unfortunately.

As long as there's no signs of obvious neglect, this is not really a concern.
Yeah ok, I'm not going to take that risk on a £2500 item. Especially with the retailer I've bought from, who threatened to call the police for not leaving the store when I tried to return a phone within 4 months of buying that was faulty. They insisted I return to manufacturer. I was extremely polite by the way.

Oh don't say that! lol

I had the chance to pre-order the Zotac too. I didn't mind waiting the 2-6 weeks ETA for it either. I mean realistically, I shouldn't have any issues with the MSI 5070Ti?

Or do I return the MSI and pre-order the Zotac when it becomes available in a few months..hmm
