Oblivion. 360 Vs. PC

^^ Same here, the mods for PC verson make it the obvoius choice imho.
There will be mods available for the 360 too, though obviously not as many as you'll get on the PC.

Personally I'll be getting it on the 360, just for the fact I can play it while sitting on a nice comfy chair, or lying in bed. When it's cheaper (and when I've upgraded my pc probably) I'll probably buy it on the PC as well for the user-mods that will become available.

As you can see by my PC it is no slouch but I would rather play it from a bed or sofa considering it will be a lengthy game. Only problem is that I do not have a 360 and probably will not get one considering most of the good games are to be released on PC as well.

I've actually got it preordered on both, i cant make my mind up which i'd rather have. I may be able to play it at slightly higher resolution on my PC, but i've a much bigger screen for my 360. So the PC may look a tiny bit sharper, but the 360 may be more immersive by having the bigger screen.

Given that its only £24.99 on the PC i may just hold onto the order and see which i prefer in the end. Im getting the collecters edition of the 360 version so i could probably sell it on for only a small loss if it came to it. In the middle of downloading the Oblivion trailer from XBox Live :)

If you want to play the game for a few months, get either. If you want to play it for a few years, get the PC version which I suspect will have a similarly incredible mod scene as Morrowind, which is still very active today.

Personally I think if you have both a PC and an Xbox you'd be mad to get it for the Xbox as you get far less out of the game for the same money, but there you go. It may offer a few official MS-approved mods but that will presumably exclude 99.99% of the community ones :)

erm, i will find the article, it says that the 360 uses a better shader model! :(

Please do mate. If I am wrong I will quite happily eat my hat. I have been following this game very closely and read most of the developer diaries etc. so I don't think I am. But it certainly has been known to happen on occasion. :p :)

The bit i read simply stated that the 360 version will look better than a non SM3.0 PC. Otherwise they look identical on the 360 and a PC with a SM3.0 capable card.

Exactly mate. Oblivion whether it is on the 360 or the PC supports shader models up to and including 3.0 from everything I have read.

Let's be honest though, whatever platform you get the game on it's going to be simply amazing, and worth every penny of the potential £50 you may pay for it. It's my most wanted game of the year so far.

I found it quite difficult to decide, especially as this is my most wanted game this year. I'm soooo looking forward to this game :)

I'm lucky enough to have a fairly decent pc (7800 GTX EE, X2 4400, 2gb RAM etc) so I think it should run ok on my pc, especially when I get my second 7800 and SLI them. I've also got a 360 and think it would look great on my 32" HD sammy and would like the comfort of playing from my armchair.

In the end I decided on the PC version for 2 reasons, the most important was the mod support for the PC will be much larger than the 360 imho. They may eventually release some for the 360, but I bet there will be many more available on the PC and they will be available much quicker. The second reason was mouse+keyoard controls. I can use a pad just fine, but I do prefer a mouse+keyboard for these types of game.

...Errrr, i know the internet isnt good for conveying sarcasm, but you are building a sarchasm right?

Nope, why?

MessiahKahn, I know it's a very high end single card set up, but for a game that's meant to be very advanced, it's relatively low spec. in my opinion :)

Gavin Carter: We are working to make the two versions as close to identical as possible. The Xbox 360 version should be visually identical to a PC running with all the visual options turned to maximum. PC users will have more options to turn down certain visuals to better accommodate older hardware setups. The only thing the Xbox 360 version will lack is the Elder Scrolls Construction Set for modding. It simply isn't possible to offer on a console.

I had too read that there would be differences in the way shadows were implemented so im not sure which is the most accurate. I know one thing, im not spending £800+ upgrading my PC when i can play it the same as a top of the line PC on my 360 for £280 ;)
