Oblivion. 360 Vs. PC

Tomorrow could be interesting, the NDA on this weeks press event is lifted at 12 midnight PST (American west coast), so about 8am here.

Looks like there should be quite a few hands-on previews about.

Yea, same as the link I posted last night in post #55. Took ages to download last night as his website and the mirrors were getting a hammering, but an interesting watch, something a little different :)

Question, I'm really looking forward to this but don't want my PC to ruin things. I'm due for a new PC anyway so this would be a nice excuse.

I have:
P4 3GHz Northwood
1GB RAM
ATI 9800 Pro

Having not played any of these before, is my PC going to have its ass kicked?

I am looking forward to this immensely. I love having the total freedom to do what I want and go where I want but also have a tight controlled storyline to go back to whenever I want. Similar to WoW and the GTA Games. (I actually think GTA was mentioned in an interview). www.gamingsteve.com has an 85 MINUTE!!!!!! interview with one of the devs! Listened to it today in work! Is really good!

Can't wait. Roll on March! ;)

The system requirements are as follows:

Recommended:

* 3 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor
* 1 GB System RAM
* ATI X800 series, NVIDIA GeForce 6800 series, or higher video card

Minimum System Requirements:

* Windows XP
* 512MB System RAM
* 2 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor
* 128MB Direct3D compatible video card
* and DirectX 9.0 compatible driver;
* 8x DVD-ROM drive
* 4.6 GB free hard disk space
* DirectX 9.0c (included)
* DirectX 8.1 compatible sound card
* Keyboard, Mouse

Your CPU and memory aren't too bad, but your graphics card ill stop you running it on top notch settings.

Total guess asnobody except the devs really knows how it'll run yet, but I'd estimate you'd be able to play at 1024*768 with low to medium detail or something around that.

No one mentions how well it runs apart from load times. I'm not sure whether I'll get it for my 360 or PC now, although I'd like it in its full graphical flare in the 360.

In this month's PC gamer it said, "It ran in 1280x1024 at max settings with smoothness that brought tears to the eyes" on Athlon 64 FX-55 with a Geforce 7800 (doesn't say which model though) and 1GB of RAM.

Ace... my 7800gt and 2 gigs of Ram should be well up to it then....

and I've just overclocked my X2 3800 from 2.0 ghz to 2.5ghz, so not too far off that CPU.

:D :) :D :) :D

PC version all the way for me, even tho I just bought the kids an Xbox360......I'm a PC gamer and even if I had to ramp down some of the graphics settings I don't care....in-depth rpgs and consoles don't sit well with me. I'm too old skool for that :D

Anyway, graphics aside, the gameplay is more of a concern imo. Hopefully they have improved on the awful combat system etc that Morrowind had...

The point it's getting at is that it was super smooth for them. Probably means you can drop the components down to a 7800GT and A-64 3700+ at high settings and still get a high amount of smooth frame-rates :)

:) That's me sorted then. Might invest in another gig of RAM though, I think it might push a system with only 1GB.

Bearing in mind I want to play at such a quality it will excite me in ways I don't understand. :D
