Oblivion. 360 Vs. PC

Is this going to be like morrowind, where I spent hours running around with no idea what to do, or will there be a more solid storyline which guides me into actually having some fun?

That is what I am hoping as well.

Played morrowind (even that was jerky on a P43.6/6800gt setup) and couldn't get into it very deeply because I had no idea what to do.

Also I will probably get it on the 360.

I like just sticking the disc in and letting the console do the work. Plus for me the controls won't be a problem (I prefer COD2 on the 360 to the pc even though I have it on both)

According to the developers they are going to have a much tighter story with loads of spoken dialogue and the game world will be smaller but with more detail and stuff going on. Hopefully they have addressed all the shortcomings of Morrowind.

As you can see by my PC it is no slouch but I would rather play it from a bed or sofa considering it will be a lengthy game. Only problem is that I do not have a 360 and probably will not get one considering most of the good games are to be released on PC as well.

I feel the same. I have considered the pro's and con's of both versions.
The 360 is effectively going to be identical to a decent spec PC. But I'm looking forward to the mods etc that will be available for the PC version (not sure about additional content for the 360 version, can someone enlighten me?)

I'd sooner put the money I'd fork out on a 360 premium pack + copy of the game on a new Widescreen Dell monitor :D

Just goes to show I have considered getting an Xbox 360. This will be one of the most demanding games out there when it comes out. The fact that the 360 will be getting it too shows what a powerful console it is....

So even the developers themselves stating that the two versions will be basically identical isn't enough for you?

The developers would say that, they wouldnt diss there own product would they. ;)
No disrespect to the Don its just strictly buissness ;)

It's all speculation on our part anyway until we actually get our hands on the demo or full product. I would bet that right now, the difference between a 360 and a high-end pc will be negligible at the most. 6 months down the line I would expect the PC to pull ahead as hardware improves, but that's a given on any game anyway.

That's what makes the game fun. How could you not have an idea of what to do? one of the first characters tells you to deliver a package in Balmora

some good mods to check out are the Darker Morrowind Retexture. Better Heads, Better Bodies, Quick Char and Morrowind FPS optimizer (allows you to get rid of the fog)

Oh right, sorry.. its just you stated over 1000 pounds worth of equipment...with only two components...

Does anyone know if this game is equal to/bigger than Morrowind?.. any inclination on the length.. if its anything like Morrowind.. ill deffo get this as it will be much more efficient use of my money

The point it's getting at is that it was super smooth for them. Probably means you can drop the components down to a 7800GT and A-64 3700+ at high settings and still get a high amount of smooth frame-rates :)

This is the only game I have seen and wanted for ages.

It looks great and I can't wait to get this on my pc, no doubt will need to buy new bits to get it to run decently :(

On the forums there is a whole list of what WILL be on the game. Definately mouth-watering stuff.

Had it preordered since October, though this was when the game was meant to come out 'Holidays 2005'. I feel it will be next month as XBox Magazine and PC Gamer both have reviews in their next issue which is the April edition (which for some odd reason comes out in early march).

When a magazine has a review coming out thats a very good sign the game is being released.

I think I might pick up Morrowind again this weekend and start it again with some mods installed, get myself in the mood for Oblivion :)

Thats what I've just done, made a Elf Theif with marksmenship and some other bits and bobs off now to see what I can steal :)

And after that any sign of a story dissapears and your left to do boring tasks for a guild.

Wrong. You are told to join a guild and get your rank up. You can continue the story line missions whenever you want.

Anyway, who says you have to do guild quests? Why not just go and explore, kill stuff, find loot, etc.?

I tried doing that, but the enemys were completley overpowered, in fact before I patched the game I got killed in 1 hit constantly, it didnt stop the game from crashing every 15 mins either, just going round and exploring is boring to me (at least it was in that game), I like to be following some storyline, I much prefered the style of the final fantasy rpgs if you know what I mean.

Generally I prefer ff style games too but I did really enjoy morrowind and i'm really looking forward to oblivion.
