Oblivion Peformance So Far

This game comes with starforce and people are buying this on top of the fact its a bad port from the x360?

Is this a Starforce protected game? Well, it runs fine for me after removing it

It's easily the best looking game i've ever seen, tbh.

EDIT: Nope it's not Starforce protected, don't know where you got that from.

I just installed oblivion, and it works sweet , with hdr and the lot turned up full, no lagging, smooth as my bottom used to be 36 years ago. I will install it on my 2nd rig, 3.5 venice, asus sli premium 2 gig ram and sli 6600gt`s. Will report on that when ive recovered from the jaw dribbling effects on this game. BTW, my 7900GT is overclocked (coolbits auto detection) as is my 4 gig cpu (2640mhz) ;)

It stutters on my PC too and i have a single core CPU! In the end i took it off of the pc. All other games play really well indeed! Oblivion has a bad engine / bad design.

When GFX cards prices start getting crazy,
Then games makers can't afford to become lazy...

I bought oblivion today, been playing it at 1440x900 with max AA, max draw distances etc and it played perfectly. I dont know the exact framerates, but it was beautifully smooth and loaded seamlessly the whole time.

Great game!

Run starforce removal tool. Starforce is known to cause crashes with this game.

already did that - the game isn't starforce and i have no starforce on my pc (and that website is actually owned by the starforce people and they are being sued for fraud because of it!)

anyway, still crashing but not enough that i can't play it - all it does is throw me into windows and i have to start it up again - considering how many people are reporting problems on many different forums its obviously the game and hopefully they will release a patch soon.

I didn't even realise i had starforce on my PC till i checked under hidden devices in device manager, but sure enough, the crap was there.

Starforce are being sued? This is good news :)

I got it from this:

I got crashes before i removed Starforce from my system, not had any since.

OK, i should have made my original post a bit clearer. I guess i must have unknowingly installed SF with a demo too.

Also, before anyone uninstalls SF, make sure you don't have any games that rely on it to run.

Track mania nations uses it, since it was a free download I thought why not. Havent played it for ages, and since it was 1)free and 2)downloaded (without CD) I have no idea why it installs starforce carp.

Just rebooting to test if I can play gt evo demo and trackmania nations.

OH MY GOD I CANT GET OVER 30FPS, THE WORLD HAS ENDED.

Jesus people, get some perspective. I want to buy a new GFX card though, my X800XT doesn't do it justice.

HDR is the latest wizzy pokery effect (pretty lights, shading , glare effects) , and needs a better perfoming card to do it justice, mainly to get a good FPS. Bloom to me, is like a smudging effect. What ever effect the game requires, the better the card you need to keep up with it all, in display size, and FPS. I have 2 systems, similar, one with 6600GTs in sli, and a 7900Gt oc. I applied the same eefects to both, and they looked very similar, but the 6600Gt set up stuggled for FPS in Oblivion, 20fps ..25 on average... where as the 7900GT got 80 fps on average. Big difference there.

Removed it and no ill effects. Can play those 2 games I was on about. Ill keep an eye out for it in future, very sneaky app. I was reading a comment from a starforce related forum and the guy cheekily said that people should read the eula before installing stuff. I didnt see a pre-game credit say "protected by starforce" so what have they got to hide?

FS has a performance analysis up. Looks quite a demanding game in places:

With 11fps average in 1024x768, not much point bothering to get this for my 6800GT (albeit I probably wouldn't use HDR or AF).

that is so much bull. not you, the site you got that from. 37fps on 1028 res for x1900xtx??? my ass. im playing oblivion ultra settings hdr, high quality filtering max and resolution 1600x!! no lag except when on top of mountaina nd u can see the whole world, then only slightly. some sites just talk out their ass.

Obviously 11fps is too low, but the settings they used are prolly max everything.

If you disable soft shadows and self shadows and tweak some other stuff you can get a playable experience and if you disable HDR it will deffo be possible.
