Obsidian New RPG Avowed

I'm not subscribing to game pass to play that lol. Last thing I did that for was Indiana Jones and I played one level and then forgot about it.

To be fair to game devs though, they clearly don't need to try too hard when people lap up the slop they dish out

Not watched any reviews. Just had a quick read of one and seemed like I could enjoy it. We will see what's what in about a year. If it is good and around £20 I will just buy it.

You are quite right about gamepass. No good for me in a long game like this anyway. I would get it on the cheap for a month to also check out indy. But yeah, if it is like Uncharted I won't be playing it for long like you.

I've had Gamepass for 6 years and it's cost me about £100 in total due to the £1 upgrade business.

Not bad value, i've got it until September so it will include Avowed and Doom.

oh god, yeah catching up with a lot of the noise around the game. Sounds like it's best to wait and see how they fix it and wait for a large discount

broken quest lines, progress getting lost, save game corupption

How do you keep getting the £1 deal? I've not been able to avail of that for about 2 years

Skyrim is a bad game by todays standards
everyone loved skyrim, todays standards are just broken if skyrim would be a bad game if it released today with better graphics.

sure it was buggy, bethseda games always were it was considered part of the charm, the same with GTA series when they had that physics thing going on that lead to bizarre cut scenes sometimes

skyrim was like 100% pure eurojan.

I know people who barely gamed but loved skyrim, probably never completed it but just got immersed in the world

whats the real problem with skyrim? its too complicated? doesnt have a nice modern UI? people would get stuck on the first cave puzzle?

Tbh I called Skyrim bad back in 2011, it had all of the problems/bugs (in many cases identical bugs at that) as Bethesda's prior games dating back to at least Morrowind. It was horribly dumbed down and bland on top of that, outside of a couple of questlines it's only worth playing when heavily modded, which obviously wasn't possible when it launched.

Lo and behold, over a decade later after people gushed over janky Bethesda releases and we get Starfield which is more of a loading screen simulator than a game + all the same bugs and other issues.

They haven't released a legitimately good game since Morrowind as far as I'm concerned.

Hard to really compare SKYRIM with Starfield, even with the janky releases etc - no-one will be playing Starfield in 2 years time, nevermind 15. SKYRIM irrespective of personal subjectivity has gone on to be a legendary game with a huge fan base that STILL plays the game.

Starfield is basically nothing and was DOA.

Starfield really did just get boring as ****.

Procedurally generated stuff when it just ended up as copied and pasted labs/outposts on every planet was not the way.

Yup, gamers enjoy unique hand crafted worlds and maps, that's the truth. No procedure AI garbage is able to replace hand crafted yet, so when developers decide to try and make a space game where 99% of the playable area is generated jank, of course people are going to say it's boring

Just watched a few reviews and most have said the game is just meh with poor writing. More of an open world action game than RPG

You can see now why so many game developers and Journalists were throwing dirt at Larian for BG3

"Most"?

It's averaging 80% which isn't bad to be fair.

yeah most of the ones I watched.

Best parts of the game is combat (which is good) and the open world exploring is better than the story. Good opening but then doesn't really get any better. Main quest line boring. Cites are dead, Interactions with charterers doesn't really effect anything. The recommendation is to wait for a sale or try it out on gamepass.

That's just sounds meh to me

I have gamepass and am quite looking forward to giving it a go on Tuesday when it comes out. I think it looks quite good from what I've seen and the graphics/art direction appeals to me.

Like you though, I probably wouldn't pay full price for it (although i seldom do anyway).

Yeah. Really enjoyed it at first. But once I completed it and did exploration it was all copy and paste. Not rewarding at all. Shame.

At least you completed it, I got bored way before that point :(
