Obsidian New RPG Avowed

This game has leaked already on the shiver me timbers platforms. I can't believe the game got leaked and cracked so quickly.

There must be someone internally who is really unhappy with this game.

Sounds great! I'm going to go spend 80 quid to play early

TBH I got it on Gamepass and paid £13 to upgrade to the premium for early access.

I've played close to 4 hours now so something must be OK.

I swear since the cracking AI in Half Life (2?), its gotten worse, not better.

Between that and the original Farcry imo, you see the odd well done thing but it's not something I've seen any real advancement with for most games.

I can forgive it to an extent in some titles, but I'm beyond tired of it being a "feature" for open world Bethesda and now Obsidian games, they're not indie studios and have hefty budgets at this point. It's not endearing anymore, they've had a couple of decades of running the same formula and it's still no better, I'm not really willing to spend money on it anymore (among other issues).

Not sure if it's definitely the case, but from the footage I've seen, the environments seem rather claustrophobic. I was hoping for a more Skyrim type of open world. Might try it on gamepass.

watched a bit more and it looks really fun, going to try it on game pass next week

combat looks like a mashup of a few games and can be fairly difficult

Why? It's already released for the premium edition and the only DRM on it is steams own. I'd be surprised if it wasn't already available.

Several of the reviews I've watched say the combat becomes repetitive and trivial fairly quickly. This game looks mediocre at best, but if others gain enjoyment from it then great !

Will either play on gamepass or buy it in about a year once I get through my backlog of games. Defo will play it though. But no rush. Will ker @noxbeta test this one for me.

I put a few hours into this last night. I'm quite enjoying it. Feels like Immortals of Aveum in combat and I really liked that game.

I started out as a sword and board fighter but have pivoted to wizard - you can effectively reclass at any time and pretty much always have a companion with you to help in fights.

Storyline is kinda interesting. Think I'll be playing this all weekend.

:)

I'm not subscribing to game pass to play that lol. Last thing I did that for was Indiana Jones and I played one level and then forgot about it.

To be fair to game devs though, they clearly don't need to try too hard when people lap up the slop they dish out

Isn't this basically 95% of games with combat in it. Can't think of a single first person or 3rd person RPG that wasn't swing a sword, or shoot an arrow or shoot a gun over and over for 50+ hours

Most have pretty basic AI
