*****OcUK Benchmark Results from ATI HD 69xx Series*****

Is the 570 GTX really £40 cheaper - I've done some pretty rigorous searching and I can't see one selling for £240 delivered (i.e. £40 less than I can get a 6970 delivered from here).

As for people claiming to have bought a 580 for £342 I would be most surprised at that

I can see a few £370-380 +P&P - which is still more than £100 more - but none make claims about stock - but there maybe other places of course.

same vantage score as a pair of clocked 5870 cards in crossfire...

gains elsewhere but exactly as i expected to a degree.

Am guessing that's a single 6970

no jedi ;)

the crossfire 6970 score for vantage is the same score i had on my crossfire 5870s

they were clocked to holy hell of course

but it was a year ago.

in fairness, my 480 is still chewing through everything at 2560x1600 so i see no reason to upgrade just yet

if these had been much faster then it would maybe have been a consideration.

If the 6970 is fighting the 570GTX, which it CLEARLY IS.
It needs to come in at that price point £250.

Seriously, this is getting truly ridiculous, its clearly fighting the 570gtx, because one early review USING THE WRONG DRIVERS which have BEEN SHOWN TO BE SIGNIFICANTLY SLOWER has the 6970 10-15% faster in several situations, how do you think that will change with the right drivers?

As for the price, you and 555 keep coming up with these magical prices I can't see available anywhere. OCUK the cheapest 570gtx in stock is £270, the cheapest 580gtx is £440.

I'll go with YOUR logic, the 570gtx is spanked by the 6970 in uniengine, and I've seen a 570gtx for £330, therefore the 570GTX is £100 too expensive.

Yes, we can all say ridiculous things and change our minds every four seconds.

Or we can wait for reviews, with the right drivers, and see what happens.

As for teh 570gtx overclocking better, could you or 555 provide proof of that anywhere? The 58xx overclocked better than Nvidia's 4xx or 5xx cards have done, and with default voltage the 69xx are overclocking well, with reports from AIB's that they will all overclock like crazy, with it said that a 6950 has already hit 1010Mhz, which is just shy of a 30% overclock.

My 5850 hits 1050Mhz easily and completely stable, its funny how the two such obvious anti AMD guy in these threads keep finding prices no one else can, and agreeing on completely ridiculous things with literally not a shred of evidence, and using benchmarks with the wrong drivers to "prove" your idea's.

Its gone far beyond trolling now, its just utterly ridiculous.

A certain retailer that I obviously cannot mention sells them at £379. With the aid of an online 10% discont voucher this makes £342, which iis what I paid on Sunday. The same retailer currently has 570's in stock for £260, and vouchers can still be had for further discount. I would print the invoice if I was allowed to.

likewise, i cant find any of the nvidia cards at the stated prices- if i could i would still seriously consider them..

Its guaranteed that by friday many of the stores will have 570GTX at £249.99.
Nvidia aint just going to sit there trust me.
With a strong 6970 stock launch prices of 570GTX will tumble to about 249.99£

Hi there

Let me make a comment.

GTX 570 is cheaper, but its more like £20.

However its clear for whatever reasons people preferre the ATI 6970, maybe its down to crossfire scaling or its OC ability.

Let me just say 69xx sales have already overtaken GTX 570 sales, its not even been what 3hrs yet and in 3hrs we've sold more ATI 69xx cards compared to GTX 570 have sold since launch.

Now to me that says something, which is consumers believe at £280-£300 they consider a 6970 to be a bargain, wheras the GTX 570 is not considered so hot, not even at £250......

Its not my fault you can use the internet properly and find the cheap #deals#. AMD's own slides show it to be in the 570GTX class, what are you jumping down my throat.

where it shows trading punches with 570GTX IN GAMESSS!

I think it's great too that these severely boosted tessellation performance considering 2011 will have top games that will use it i can think of five main games that probably will.:)

Gibbo how much cards left roughly of 6950/6970s?

Ouch, how many 6970's have you sold so far, to be honest after you saying the 580gtx had sold 300 so far I would have thought the 570gtx was already far in excess of that, as usually the "lower" card has far more availability and is better value so has more buyers. I guess its suffering from the "lets wait and see" syndrome of new card right around the corner a little more than the 580gtx.

Still would have thought it would have sold a LOT by now. How many 570gtx's have you had stock wise since launch, plenty available of not that much stock, and its just not selling that fast?

hundreds and hundreds - with thousands more to come

Oh christ, this is far too tempting. Two 6970's are far cheaper than I was anticipating :/

Problem is I have a 5970, cant see that I would see that much of a gain at 2560x1440.

Must resist upgrade urge!

Well i'm not going to order tonight, I feel a little let down tbh and might try and get my hands on either a sub £350 GTX 580 or sub £250 GTX 570 if they appear befor Christmas. Either way there's not that much gain offered by the 6970 over my current 5870.

IMHO both the 6970 and GTX570 are great cards, and at the moment they appear very equal for both price and performance.

I also believe that the 6950 will be the best performance bargain money can buy, offering almost 570/6950 power for £220. People would be silly not to buy one and this is a clear winner from AMD.

Again, a supposedly fake chart.

Can you find me another AMD marketing slide with Nvidia's NAME on it anywhere, because Nvidia don't produce them with AMD names on and AMD don't produce them with Nvidia's name on. THe 6870 launch had similar slides and NO mention of Nvidia, same as every other launch I can remember.

You've also managed again for the umpteenth time failed to recognise what people are telling you, they used OLD drivers in that review, every single other person with the cards says theres a pretty significant performance increase with the RIGHT driver, why do you continually ignore everything thats pointed out to you.

Notice Nvidia mentioned on that slide anywhere, nope.

What about the other slide AMD uses, any sign of Nvidia there still?

That is impressive, although have you sold the 570 for £250? I'm not stirring or anything, honestly enquiring - would it be fair to say that relative to the competition your 6970 prices are keener than your 570 prices (and that could account for the better sales)?

fair comment gibbo.

But why don't you price them at £250 and let ppl decade? I understand perfectly why, from your business point of view. You got tons of 6970 to get rid of. :p

My point is that they trade punches and 570GTX does give u CUDA and PHYSX which are a little bit crap but at least worth a solid £10.

As for the early glut in sales? 570GTX was such a low key launch half a people on here dont know that the card even exist. Which is nvidias fault really.

There won't be much gain going to a 570 either. What games are you playing that you can't run well with your 5870? If there aren't any, but you can afford to upgrade for fun, go for the 580, it looks like it'll still be the fasted card in the morning. Or go CF.
