*****OcUK Benchmark Results from ATI HD 69xx Series*****

A certain retailer that I obviously cannot mention sells them at £379. With the aid of an online 10% discont voucher this makes £342, which iis what I paid on Sunday. The same retailer currently has 570's in stock for £260, and vouchers can still be had for further discount. I would print the invoice if I was allowed to.

So how long is it on back order till? Or were you lucky enough to pick it up? Just when I spoke to my old account manager there he told me they'd have zero stock to fill anything but back orders until the new year.

Let me just say 69xx sales have already overtaken GTX 570 sales, its not even been what 3hrs yet and in 3hrs we've sold more ATI 69xx cards compared to GTX 570 have sold since launch.

Now to me that says something, which is consumers believe at £280-£300 they consider a 6970 to be a bargain, wheras the GTX 570 is not considered so hot, not even at £250......
In all honnesty, I don't think 570 sales were helped by OcUK pricing and the limited availability. Many people have rightly waited to see what the 6900's offer, and OcUK do appear to have great pricing on these. There has also been MUCH greater anticipation for AMD's new product launch than GTX570, which came out quietly several weeks after GTX580.

edit: It probably helps that OcUK are the only place with 6900 stock, and have a very active forum membership tool. It must be nice being AMD's (current) sole supplier in the UK. I bet some of the competetors are p****d about it.

Again, a supposedly fake chart.

Can you find me another AMD marketing slide with Nvidia's NAME on it anywhere, because Nvidia don't produce them with AMD names on and AMD don't produce them with Nvidia's name on. THe 6870 launch had similar slides and NO mention of Nvidia, same as every other launch I can remember.

You've also managed again for the umpteenth time failed to recognise what people are telling you, they used OLD drivers in that review, every single other person with the cards says theres a pretty significant performance increase with the RIGHT driver, why do you continually ignore everything thats pointed out to you.

Notice Nvidia mentioned on that slide anywhere, nope.

Ok AMD sent them the wrong driver to a reviewer? Yeah?
Please, wake up. The only person that had this magical driver is martini, whos screen shots look dubious at best, and faked at worst.

Just for info "If the 570 was £280 pounds I would buy the 6970 too."

What about the other slide AMD uses, any sign of Nvidia there still?

http://www.eteknix.com/previews/amd-catalyst-software-update-preview-473/page3 second image, they mention nVidia.

mmm I'm sitting on the fence and waiting :) I have money ready to go - but still can't work out which - 6970 OC'd vs 570 OC'd is quicker :)

both look nice cards though :)

Hopefully the consumer will be the winner here with 2 fairly well matched cards they might choose to compete entirely on price :)

From where you linked me to.

AMD driver version Cat 10.11, firstly 10.12 IS OUT, and theres ALWAYS, always a new driver out for a new release, every single time. He's using a month old driver, theres a newer driver on AMD's website, and almost everyone is saying theres ANOTHER newer driver that will be released tomorrow.

Original release day, nov 22nd, discs that went out in boxes ready to ship for 22nd, cat 10.11, most likely reason for delay seems to be drivers, benchmarks leaked early using drivers on disc seem sucky and have improved with newer drivers........ any of this adding up for ya.

I knew someone would find one :p , to be fair its talking about Nvidia vs AMD driver stability so hard not to mention Nvidia. Yes they both talk about each other in those situations but 99.999% of the time when they release a card they tend to at best refer to the opposite company as "other" or something almost as silly in their slides. I had a quick look on [H], AMD really do seem to like their slides, Nvidia launch slides seem well, theres less of them, but still only seem to mention Nvidia last gen.

Its childish and silly but its VERY rare for either to mention each other in release slides.

AMD would have provided all of the review sites final drivers days ago. Otherwise the reviews due for release tomorrow would all be pants, and AMD obviously would not like that.

That's down to whether they're official reviews or not. I'd be inclined to believe that only "official" reviewers get given the right drivers. If what Martini says is correct, then it'd make sense to keep "true" performance leaks under wraps. We'll know soon enough any way so it doesn't really matter.

I must admit the one to go for would be the 1 GB 6950 when it arrives if you game at 1920x1200 or less.I`d imagine a price of around £200 or less then. That makes it around the £400 mark x-fire for a 580/6970 killer at a res the vast majority of people use. Also going back to memory one thing skyrocket is forgetting in his camparisons (i.e cuda and phys-x) is that the 6970 has 2GB of memory and is within price range of the 570.

So for eyefinity/multi-monitor types and very high res gamers the 6970 with the extra memory looks like the better buy ,and thats not taking into account the fabled "correct" drivers ;)

It's pretty obvious that in a weeks time once people actually have these cards in their machines, tweaked and clocked with up to date drivers then we'll be able to see a much better idea of just which card is indeed the best for that price performance bracket.

In the mean time enjoy your pointless arguments since they have pretty much zero supporting evidence for or against. :)

Yeah its adding up that your invalidating the whole review based on drivers that might increase the performance so much it will put it in the class with 580GTX.
A class that BASED on AMD own release slides, its clearly not in.

We can only judge it what its based on now. And based on that and £280 price tag, I myself would have to go with 570GTX if I had to choose for £30 less. But hey, Gibbo is selling them 6970 well so who am I to argue.

6950 on the other hand looks like a gem. Thats a great card. Not 6970. imho
