After looking at all the reviews i'm going for the GTX 570, it performs better with AA and tessellation from what I saw and that's where i want my extra performance. If i still had my eyefinity setup the 6970 would have been a lot more tempting.
Glad I didn't order a 6970 as it's only around 7% more win than a 5870 and I have quite a good one 
So it would seem that the best bang for buck card is a 5870 at around £180 and if you want the best single GPU then it's the GTX 580 (best in stock price £399) and for people determined to spend around £280 then the GTX 570 is the best.
So what is the point of the 6970?

Seems a bit harsh that you select £430 for the 580, when at most sites the prices were £380-400. Mine was £379.99, £100 difference.
Just read the Guru3d review. I was a little worried the cards would give the 580 a run for its money but they don't seem as quick as people thought they would be. As has already been said it's as if AMD brought these out to compete with the gtx 480.
I can relax now though anyway knowing it was money well spent on my GTX 580!
