Just got back from lighwater Valley. My son came out with a cracker as we were finishing the crazy golf, "this holes broken", he meant the last one where it rolled into a storage area. Me and my Mrs were howling.

Congrats dude :) I joined around the same time as you, we had our daughter on the 6th of April. Been a crazy whirlwind so far, I didn't realise it was possible to be both sleep deprived and also wide awake at the same time.
Was a long old labour and in the end she had to come through the sunroof but my partner is recovering quickly. She was a big old lump at 9lbs 4oz.

She clearly didn't like the, clearly oversized, baby-grow just yet as she threw up all over it not long after this photo!

It's weird. I never really wanted kids and when we found out she was coming I probably wouldn't have been against getting rid of her. But now she is here I can't imagine her not being here. I found the first day I couldn't stop looking at her and even now it sounds even weirder but I find I can't stop sniffing her, she just smells fantastic. Especially considering she hasn't had a wash yet

I've come to OCUK for advice on many things. As a whole, you guys helped me do my first custom water cooled loop, pass my motorbike test, purchase a house, get into road biking and now I'll be asking for all the advice I can get in this thread!

Our daughter is coming up to 1 and sleep is but a distant memory :o

It gets better! Then gets worse when another arrives…

Our second arrived in late February. Number two seems much more chilled out than Number one, that might be a reflection on the parents though!

Congratulations on all the new arrivals!

I think we are doing quite well on the sleep front so far. We expected it to be bad but it's not been quite as bad as we expected. She woke up at 1am then 5am but after that she didn't stir again until 8:20.

Starting to get used to waking up in the night now, it's not quite as tough as it was a few days ago. We have a baby brezza bottle maker and that is making life much easier too

Congrats to the new arrivals. After a couple weeks of baby boot camp you are no longer "green" and will hopefully have gotten over the shellshock of being allowed to leave the hospital with a real live baby without passing some kind of test. The rest is pretty doable: nappy, hungry, tired, hugs is the checklist and you will have sussed by now that muslin squares and baby grows are your best friends, as are wipes. Who knew how awesome wipes were until they had kids!

First couple of weeks to a month ours was up every few hours, gradually stretching out over time though, from 5-6 months when we started introducing food rather than just boob she started sleeping from 7:30pm though till 6am. Makes life a lot easier when they sleep well.

She'll occasionally sleep for 12 hours now - unless she's poorly (9 months old).

@ChrisD. Congratulations!

Mine is approaching 8 months of age now, god time goes fast!

It's a fantastic journey, enjoy!

@Junglist also congrats and I was the same as you, never wanted kids /was not interested during pregnancy etc ,no excitement
But now she's here it's the best thing ever! It's amazing, but stressful lol
Wish I had kids earlier in life

why is it an issue?
What do you mean? Teaching your child shouldn't be an issue. Behaviour is learnt. If they are acting in a way you don't want them to, then chances are they learnt that behaviour from somewhere. You can train it out of them.

Like he said, you're in charge, the child isn't.

Anyone else having a tough time with childcare at the moment?

Our Nursery just out of the blue closed one of their rooms with just 2 weeks notice, total nightmare! Apparently the entire early years care sector is struggling

Nope, all good here. But I can imagine it’s a pain, we’d be screwed if that happened to us.
