Our 9 month old had his first bug/high temperature yesterday. Queue mrs at the panic stations, ready to ring 101 etc. Needless to say after some Calpol and sleep he's back to himself.

He wasn't acting himself, his breathing was really rapid as was his heart rate, temp not much over 38. Oh, he projectile vomited all over his bouncy chair, the smell was delicious.

Always best to be ready, ours had highs above 38 then down to 34 ! Had to have antibiotics as a temperature fluctuation like that can be bad.

34 surely must be a misreading on the thermometer, thats below the threshold for hypothermia to occur!

Two different thermometers, both same readings.

Got told she had a nasty virus of sorts and antibiotics were needed asap, had us crapping bricks as most sites say it's a sign ( not actual ) of hypothermia setting in or sepsis.

I'd rate the NHS website as being far more reliable than Mumsnet (hateful place and full of lots of wrong information which I learnt the hard way) which states 35c and under is medically considered hypothermia It clearly was caused by the illness in your case, but it was definitely medically hypothermia. FYI the treatment for sepsis IS antibiotics. So I'd rate your daughters chances of having both sepsis and hypothermia to be quite high if she was given an urgent treatment.

Regardless my main point is this - if anyone ever records a temp of 35c or lower then go straight to A&E - don't self diagnose from Mumsnet of all places.

We phoned 101 that's what was required according to the NHS website.

They told us not to go to A&E and they would get us a doctor's appointment asap.

That was at 11 pm, 9 am was when we got a call to get down to the doctors then took forever to source the medicine.

Yes and no, there are people who have gone through the same, funnily enough a few mentioned how they got in touch with the NHS about low temps and took forever to be seen to, such as we were.

Doctor said it just some viral infection, not sepsis or hypothermia, anywho she's back to her old ways of hitting me with blunt objects..

This time at least, it made it as far as the “other side”, rather explosively, and completely undigested this morning, and so on, for several nappies and pairs of leggings since.

That’s the last time that accursed stone fruit ever crosses our threshold.

We found out we were pregnant with triplets but one didn’t make it past a few weeks. On our 22 week scan (late due to Xmas delays) we found out the remaining two have signs of heart defects. Waiting for a call from the specialist to see when they can do full tests.

Gut wrenching when we feel loss already for the first and we thought everything was now going to be smooth sailing.

Currently having issues with our 2 year old that are driving us to our absolute witt’s end. Up until recently, she’s been a great sleeper, usually going down around 8-9pm and sleeping through to 6-7am, but just last week, following a bout of tummy trouble at the weekend, she’s just been refusing to go down, throwing absolute meltdowns, and screaming and crying until she’s purple in the face. She’ll be tired, she’s rubbing her eyes, stumbling around, but any attempt to put her to bed results in absolute pandemonium.

All last week we were up throughout the week, and today we’ve been awake since 2am, and again, bedtime’s turning into a battle ground, with her crying screaming, shouting. My wife’s running out of patience with her, and I honestly don’t know what to do. The only thing I can think of is to put her in her room, and leave her to exhaust herself. She needs to learn that throwing an absolute **** fit doesn’t get her brought back down stairs.

I can’t wait for her to get past this phase

I don't have any advice other than to say our 2 year old is a bloody nightmare at the moment as well, not with that same situation specifically but the endless defiance and tantrums and boundary testing... Just gotta keep going I think and wait it out, but it's hard not to feel like you're doing something wrong

I can't believe George is 5 next month, how has it been 5 years already.
He's enjoying primary school he went into mainstream as well we found a place that fits him well and they look after him, huge pain in the but regards EHCP though and a couple of his medical people have peed me off.
Basically he goes to school in a different councils area so 2 of his medical people refuse to go see him in school even though the school is closer to then than coming to our house. We told them to do one already not taking him out of school for that.
So his school are paying for a private team to come see him and recovering the cost from our council.
I couldn't believe it when they refused to go see him I had to leave the room and let my wife talk to them. How they can put a technicality before the welfare of a child I don't know. All the other people put the appointment down as a home visit then go to the school anyway.

They lull you into a false sense of security, and honestly you just forget...

Our eldest was a nightmare for the first two years, but then everything fell into place for him and for some reason we thought it would be a good idea to do it again Cue another 2 years of torture! It was worth it though

Exactly my thoughts on this, our daughter is 5 months and she's great but I think we're pretty comfortable with being one and done...

Give it a few months and they start being really hard work, turning over during nappy changes, proper tantrums when feeding, constant attention seeking etc.
