OcUK Dadsnet thread

Just proving my point. There will be lots of people inconvenienced by a screaming baby, rather than the one family that has the screaming baby.

A screaming baby for a few hours on a flight is not a big deal. Put ear plugs in, and watch a movie. Even a screaming baby sleeps after a while. The parents probably feel mortified by it, but what alternative do they have?

They could have adult only flights but just charge a premium for it. I'm sure people like you would pay ;)

I've been ****** off more often by adults (loud, fat, weak bladder control, drinking, awful BO, and a plethora of other things) on a plane than I have been by babies.

This. What utter nonsense to suggest they shouldn't travel, I don't mind crying babies on a flight and don't worry if mine kick off.

Well, I have to admit I was the same as others in that before having kids, noisy babies would annoy although not too badly. Now, I just share their pain.

My first will be 2 in November, he's bananas. Second one due a week on Monday. Wouldnt change it for the world even though we left it pretty late.

I'm not saying babies/familes shouldn't travel/go on holiday, I just think they should stay in the UK rather than going in a cramped metal tin. That's what we did fir several years.

And that's your choice, as is their choice to go abroad.
It's you that shouldn't go on a plane if you don't like it.
These might be right up your street.

Shame there aren't adults only flights. I've seen it mentioned a few times. I'd perhaps be willing to pay the premium on a long flight. On a short flight, I'd just have to put up with it.

Its a horrible sound. I mean I suppose biologically it's meant to be to get parents to deal with it. Same as any baby animal calling to parents.

Business class if it bothers you that much

Did you drive in a ‘cramped metal tin’ too ? Seriously a plane is far more comfortable that a car. Plus you get to provide your children with different places and cultures

Feel like there's a mutual understanding of families with other kids about babies being upset on planes. Just get on with it, the sort of mindset of 'oh I won't take my baby here or there because it might inconvenience others' is a terrible way to think, especially for new parents that are already bricking it that they're doing literally everything wrong.
