Its £60 per parent, so if you are with your daughters mother still, then its £120.I'm taking my daughter out of reception to go and see her grandparents overseas. She will miss 4 weeks of reception. I don't mind the £60 fine, but could it be more?
The school don't respond other than to say it will be an unauthorized absence.

Also is it 4 weeks of missed school or is it possible to stagger the trip over a half term or end of term period to lessen the impact by a week or two?
It was way more expensive to go staggering Easter. Couldn't use avios either. I'm taking thousands here. Its £60 per parent, so if you are with your daughters mother still, then its £120.

Child benefit I suppose. The half/end term time flight/holiday prices are so extortionate we previously worked out it's cheaper to go on a holiday during term time and pay the fee's (£600) for a week away.
We haven't done it yet but can't lie, it's very tempting.
My son has been given a 45 minute detention for 2 lates this term, I know, I took him/was the reason he was late.
His Mum/my Wife is dealing with brain damage (which is the reason for the lates) so I think he is having enough lessons on "how life can be ****".Is this not an early lesson in responsibility? That he may be held responsible for the faults of others. Thus you should go and sit the detention with him.
Anyway, I trust that you have written to the headteacher? Don't speak to them; put it in writing. And if you don't get an answer, write to whoever's in charge of education at your local council.
I find it so strange that the school, even though they are aware of the situation, would still give your son detention. His Mum/my Wife is dealing with brain damage (which is the reason for the lates) so I think he is having enough lessons on "how life can be ****".
A child is just that, and should be protected when needed. Sometimes life is an opportunity for learning, sometimes, nothing needs to be said.

Have they said anything else about it to you at all? It's a while since I was at school now, but when I was 12/13 a friend of mine's mum had terminal cancer and wasn't given particularly long to live. His dad did as much as he could in the circumstances but he would be late to drop off at times or some days he wouldn't be at school at all - and the school did everything they could to support and help. No detentions etc. because that helps no-one in this situation.
. lukcily the 30hours free kick in in April that should soften the blow.Yeah, our daughter hasn't even started nursery yet (starts in May) and we've already been told the cost is going up. It's more than our mortgage at this point.just received the email for nursery fees. going up 9% just shy now of £1,5k / month. lukcily the 30hours free kick in in April that should soften the blow.
I copped out and paid for the vaccine. Both of ours have just gone through chicken pox fortunately at the same time. At least that box has been ticked. They were both fine as expected for a mild illness.
I ended up hospitalised after the last bout of bum gravy. I got so dehydrated my organs were at risk of failure. Not sure why my daughter hates me to generate such biological warfare but what doesn't kill me makes me stronger. Character building, exactly like you saidSon started nursery in December last year, the inevitable happened last week where we, my wife and son all had sickness/bum gravy at the same time. It was a brutal 24 hours, who knew it was so hard to look after an ill child when you fill like absolute garbage yourself.
Back out the otherside now, can only be described as character building I think.
